On October 26, The New York Post published an article on YouTuber Tyler Oliveira’s visit to India. As seen in a clip posted on his Instagram, Tyler participated in a cow-dung throwing festival, in which he was seen getting uncomfortable with the activities. “Happy Diwali! Yes, I went to India’s poop throwing festival [dung emoji]. It was the shittiest experience of my life. I will never go back. Please pray that I survive.”

Oliveira’s subsequent posts received mixed reactions from social media users. The New York Post highlighted some of the comments on his posts, some of which accused him of being racist. Tyler reshared the outlet’s post on his X, writing:

“It isn’t racist to film a poop-throwing festival. Was this article written by an Indian?”

As per the outlet, Tyler Oliveira was at India’s Gorehabba festival, which is celebrated mainly in Karnataka’s Gumatapura village. In one of the videos, Tyler was seen saying:

“I am stinking. I am stinking.”

He added:

“I am gonna die today. They are going to kill me.”

Meanwhile, he left a comment on the video on his X, writing:

“This video is NOTHING compared to everything we captured. Stay tuned.”

Another video that Tyler Oliveira posted showed him drinking water while the hazmat suit he wore was covered in cow dung. He wrote that he survived the festival. His videos and clips from the festival were seemingly reported by social media users, as per Tyler’s post from October 26.

When did Tyler Oliveira visit the poorest town in America?

On October 1, Tyler Oliveira posted a video on YouTube in which he explored Flint, a city in Michigan. In the video, Tyler pulled up statistics showing that nearly 40% of the people lived below the poverty line. Moreover, the median income is $31,194 a year. He said:

“Flint is the poorest town in America. But poverty and decay isn't the only thing haunting the legacy of Flint.”

He also drove around a car and said:

“This place is no joke. We're in an extremely poor area. The water quality is f*cked. There's not many job opportunities and there's some gang sh*t. So, we got to be on guard.”

Tyler Oliveira said that many involved in gang activity had guns with them, but despite that, there was a sense of brotherhood. He spoke to one person, who described his story of how he got shot. The person said:

“I got shot four times. I got shot twice each leg.”

Oliveira then pointed out to another person who got shot in the face. The person said that it damaged all his teeth after he was shot with a powerful gun. Others also shared stories about the poor water quality in the town.

When Tyler Oliveira asked someone if they drank faucet water, the person said they had been drinking faucet water for years, noting they would have to die someday.
