The custody dispute between Darryl Dwayne Granberry Jr., also known as DDG, and Halle Bailey over their son, Halo, appears to have taken a new turn. Currently, Bailey has sole custody of Halo, but she is in Rome for a movie shoot.

On June 24, 2025, Darryl’s lawyer asked the court to give the rapper visitation rights in Rome. Although the judge considered it reasonable for DDG to visit his son in Italy, an independent monitor will oversee the visit. In his request, the rapper asked for his visit to be supervised by his mother.

According to Billboard, the independent monitor must be a professional, not the rapper’s mother. Bailey’s lawyer, Jeremy Lane, said the rapper’s mother enabled her son’s problematic behavior, along with constant social media posts about him and Halle Bailey.

It seems that the court has yet to grant the final approval. However, once the permission is approved, DDG might not be allowed to share social media posts about his son during visitation.

Professional monitors in Rome who will supervise the visit are being sought. The court will resume the hearing on this matter on June 26, 2025. According to Complex, Darryl did not want Halle Bailey to go to Italy with Halo and filed a request for the same. However, she responded to his motion saying:

“I must be on set in Italy to film a movie. I am contractually bound to be there from June 7, 2025 to August 4, 2025. Darryl has known about this work obligation for months. This is my source of income, on which Halo and I rely to pay all bills.”

What did DDG’s mother and sister say about Halle Bailey’s allegations?

Aside from the current custody arrangement, Halle Bailey requested a restraining order on May 13, 2025, against Darryl after her claims of violent physical assault. However, DDG’s mother, Tonya Granberry, seemingly expressed her views on the allegations in an Instagram story. She wrote:

“I don’t usually comment or say anything on this internet even with all the negativity, the lies, and hatred toward mine. However, these accusations have made me realize that I have been quiet too long.”

However, she did not reveal any more details about it. The rapper’s sister, TeeTee, also chose not to share her opinions on Halle Bailey’s claims. During a live stream, she said:

“I’ve already seen the TMZ post and I’m not going to speak on it, so yeah.”

Bailey was granted sole custody of Halo after she accused DDG of physical violence against her while the child was present. However, this is only a temporary arrangement, as a final decision about Halo’s custody will be made after a hearing in July 2025.

Halle Bailey explained that Darryl hadn’t consistently supported Halo since he was born. She said she could face penalties for missing work on a film, which would break her contract.

She also mentioned that she couldn’t leave Halo with DDG because he would be away most of the time, and the court’s temporary restraining order listed Halo as a protected individual.
