Gilmore Girls stars Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel reunited at the 77th annual Primetime Emmy Awards on September 14. The on-screen mother-daughter duo took the stage to present an award together. Lauren played the role of Lorelai, while Alexis played her daughter, Rory Gilmore.
Graham, while speaking to Access Hollywood at the event, said that she misses working with Alexis. When asked how she feels about reuniting with Alexis, Laurne said:
"Yes, and we are sort of patter is a nod to the show as well. And it was really fun to rehearse that and really fun to see her. And um you know for us like we miss it too, when you get to do kind of that material and have that relationship so."
While presenting the Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series award, Graham, along with Alexis, said,
"Twenty-five years ago, a show called Gilmore Girls premiered and, apparently, took the season of fall hostage."
Bledel pointed out,
"In spite of our autumnal dominance (Gilmore Girls) was actually a very small show." To which Graham added, "Meaning we had no money."
More about Gilmore Girls starring Alexis Bledel and Lauren Graham
The Alexis Bledel and Lauren Graham starrer Gilmore Girls premiered on The WB (now The CW) in 2000, and featured single mother Lorelai and her daughter Rory.
The show told the story of the mother-daughter duo as they lived in the small town of Stars Hollow. During an interview with People in 2016, Graham opened up about her bond with Bledel and said,
"Just like the show, our dynamic has always been more like friends than mother and daughter. I have so much respect for her as an actor and a person and a mom."
She then added,
"I was just proud of how she kind of has handled her personal life. She's very private. We were both kind of in different places then, and we're both more settled down now. So that was kind of cool, to reconnect."
The series ultimately ended after seven seasons in 2007. The duo returned in the Netflix revival titled Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life, a limited series that aired in 2016.
The show also featured Kelly Bishop as Emily Gilmore, Edward Herrmann as Richard Gilmore, Scott Patterson as Luke Danes, Melissa McCarthy as Sookie St. James, Keiko Agena as Lane Kim, Liza Weil as Paris Geller, and others.
