According to Us Weekly, former Danity Kane member Aubrey O’Day will testify against Sean “Diddy” Combs. The Masked Singer star was reportedly subpoenaed recently before she traveled to New York.
The Ex on the Beach 3 star shares a history with the controversial record executive and rapper. Aubrey O’Day was a part of Danity Kane, which P. Diddy formed on Making the Band 3. The Famously Single star was eventually kicked out of the girl group by Combs amidst tensions in 2008.
Aubrey O’Day previously called her experience working with Diddy as a part of Danity Kane “scary” in a chat with Variety in 2018. After allegations against the controversial record producer and exec made headlines in 2024, the reality TV star had her say.
Speaking to People, she expressed that she didn’t “feel vindicated at all” when accusations against Diddy emerged. O’Day told the magazine:
“There's no vindication when you're a victim of someone.... Anyone being exposed, or any truths being told, don't change the reality of what you experienced.”
Remarking on the traumatic experiences that victims go through, Aubrey O’Day added:
“It's a forever thing that you have to wake up every day and choose to evolve past. It doesn't go away. It's like childhood trauma. We don't like to think it just disappears in our thirties, but really we start realizing how bad it really is in our thirties.”
The authorities arrested Sean Combs on September 16 and indicted him for charges like s*x trafficking and racketeering. Aubrey O’Day seemingly hailed the arrest as “a win for women” and asserted that she felt “validated” in an X post:
“The purpose of Justice is to provide an ending and allow us the space to create a new chapter. Women never get this. I feel validated. Today is a win for women all over the world, not just me. Things are finally changing.”
Aubrey O’Day detailed her experience working with Sean “Diddy” Combs in a 2018 interview with Variety
Making the Band 3 was the reason the former Danity Kane member shot to fame. The MTV reality TV show also allowed her to meet Sean Combs, aka P. Diddy, who remained influential in the music industry for decades. However, her experience working with the record executive was far from ideal, as O’Day recounted in a 2018 Variety interview.
During the chat with the magazine, the singer-reality TV star implied that Diddy’s behavior was questionable and said:
“Diddy’s a father, so hopefully he’s learned things about the way that you handle women and has more compassion for women now.”
She called Diddy “a very difficult person to work with,” asserting that he demanded everything to be perfect. Aubrey O’Day proclaimed that she and her Danity Kane bandmates were “scared to death” while working with Sean Combs. In her own words, the Baddies Caribbean star said:
“We were scared to death with what would happen with Puff each day. There was just no room for error. Diddy was one of the most intense people you could ever work with.”
She continued:
“I experienced everything from race [remarks] to sexism and a lot of it was scary. I have a very strong mom who wasn’t necessarily a nurturer and I remember one time as a kid I hit my knee and as it was bleeding everywhere, she said, ‘Suck it up Aubrey!’ That was proper training for what I would experience on ‘Making the Band.’”
Days after Diddy was arrested, Aubrey O’Day appeared on The Crisis Queen Podcast and alleged that the Bad Boy Records founder “groomed” her while controlling how she looked on camera. The singer explained:
“Maybe after, potentially after Diddy, I definitely could fall into what Diddy's, you know, you could… you don't just groom somebody on… grooming is a process. They don't just abuse you on day one.”
Per Us Weekly, a source confirmed that O’Day will testify “sometime this week or next week.”
