Jessica Simpson and her estranged spouse, Eric Johnson, reunited during Thanksgiving despite their separation earlier in the year. The family holiday was held at his mother, Tina's, house, with the whole family. Simpson stated that it was natural for him to spend the day with Johnson.

According to a report by TMZ, Jessica Simpson responded with an affirmation of the fact that she celebrated Thanksgiving with Johnson. She also added that the holiday was more about spending time with the people who mean the most. In her case, that is her three children and their father.

In January, Jessica Simpson and Eric Johnson announced that they were separating after almost 10 years of marriage. Nevertheless, they remain in touch and co-parent their three children.

Jessica Simpson explained that sharing Thanksgiving with Johnson was important because he is the father of her children.

She said, “It’s my kids’ father.”

She also noted that all their grandparents were present at the event. For her, the gathering was about making sure the children felt supported.

The family spent the day at Tina Simpson’s home. Simpson shared that her mom cooked most of the meal. Simpson and her sister Ashlee watched the Dallas Cowboys game while the rest of the family enjoyed the day. The focus stayed on creating a peaceful and familiar environment for the children.

Jessica Simpson believes in protecting her children from conflict. She told TMZ that “unconditional love’s important,” especially during hard moments like a breakup or divorce. She added another important reminder:

“No matter what, your kid is half the other person.”

This guides how she speaks and acts around her kids when it comes to their father.

Moving through separation with respect

Earlier this year, Simpson unveiled that she was adapting to her post-divorce life. She confessed that this was not the place where she believed she would be at age 45. She explained to PEOPLE that she never anticipated being single in her life again as a mother of three children, yet she is coming to terms with change and living on.

Johnson also kept her engaged with the children during the holiday season. Simpson told him that he brought them to the Yale vs. Harvard football match in Connecticut on November 22. He had played football at Yale in the past, and thus it was a special moment for him and the children. During their stay, the children also came across a huge billboard advertising the next show of Simpson and posted her photos.

She said, “They were like, ‘Mom!!!’”

Simpson has also been trying out her life as a newly single woman. During the premiere of All’s Fair, she informed Extra that she is getting to know herself better.

She said, “I think I’m into younger men at the moment… I am having fun!”

Despite the changes she experiences at a personal level, she still places her children first and has a stable relationship with the father.
