Former NFL defensive back Adam "Pacman" Jones, was arrested on June 6, and booked into the Kenton County Jail on June 7 for assaulting a police officer.
Jones is charged with public intoxication, disorderly conduct and assaulting a police officer. As per jail records, Jones was arrested by Covington police. A news release mentions that officers were called to The Second Story Bar on West Seventh Street just before 1 a.m. on June 7,
"Following a report of a disturbance involving a customer and an employee".
After the police arrived, they were alerted to a car trying to leave the location. Upon stopping the car, the officers found that it was being driven by the NFL player. The Covington Police Department's release mentioned,
"The Covington Police Department takes incidents of this nature very seriously. We are committed to maintaining peace and ensuring the safety of all who live in or visit Covington. Adam Jones is being held to the same standard of conduct as any other individual in our community."
This isn't Jones' first encounter with law enforcement. According to a September 2023 report in New York Post, a TMZ video had emerged around the time showing Adam "Pacman" Jones being arrested at the Cincinnati Northern Kentucky Airport on charges of alcohol intoxication, terroristic threats, and disorderly conduct.
Adam "Pacman" Jones' agent says that ex-NFL player had done "nothing wrong"
Adam "Pacman" Jones' agent, Peter Schaffer, in a statement according to Pro Football Talk, defended the ex-NFL player, saying that Jones had done "nothing wrong" during his interaction with the police and that his past interactions with law enforcement is being "weaponized" against him in the "court of public opinion."
Schaffer said,
"Initially, officers claimed he was being arrested for assault and then shifted to public intoxication (which, in iteself, is not a crime in many jurisdictions unless it leads to dangerous behavior), and finally settled on disorderly conduct - simply for asking why he was being detained."
Schaffer added,
"Adam, like every American, is innocent until proven guilty. Yet, once again, his past is being weaponized against him in the court of public opinion, while the officers involved face no scrutiny for their conduct. The repeated mischaracterization of his encounters with law enforcement - often stemming from minor incidents — only reinforces the need for accountability in policing."
Jones was eventually released from the Kenton County Jail after posting his $10,000 bond. One of Adam "Pacman" Jones' reps told TMZ Sports that the player "adamantly denies the allegations and looks forward to explaining the truth when the time comes."
