Adrian Peterson is back in the headlines for all the wrong reasons. The NFL legend was arrested Sunday morning for allegedly driving while intoxicated, marking his second DWI bust this year.

The former Minnesota Vikings star was taken into custody in Sugar Land, Texas, before being booked on two DWI charges and one charge of unlawful carrying of a weapon, according to TMZ. It remains unclear what brought Adrian Peterson, originally from Palestine, Texas, to the area this weekend.

The latest arrest marks the former NFL star's brush with the law following his DWI incident last April. At the time, Peterson was pulled over at around 3:20 a.m., shortly after attending the Vikings' draft party.

Patrol officers reported that he was driving about 30 mph over the speed limit and recorded a blood alcohol content of .14, which is nearly twice the legal limit of .08 in Minnesota.

Weeks later, the former running back was involved in an altercation during a game of poker in Houston, which was captured in a viral clip. The footage was obtained by TMZ in June, showing Adrian Peterson trading jabs with another man due to a disagreement during the game.

Later on, Peterson clarified that the fight was a heated dispute between friends and that they quickly moved on from the incident. No report was also filed, and no charges were pursued.

Over a 15-year NFL career, Adrian Peterson solidified himself as one of the league’s most dominant offensive players. A seven-time Pro Bowler, he posted 2,097 rushing yards in 2012 (the second-highest single-season total in league history) while leading the Vikings to the playoffs.

Peterson went on to play for several other teams, including the Cardinals, Saints, Commanders, Lions, Seahawks, and Titans, before his last NFL action in 2021.

Meanwhile, further details regarding Adrian Peterson's latest arrest are yet to be released.

More of Adrian Peterson's legal troubles following latest DWI arrest

Adrian Peterson has encountered plenty of off-field legal disputes.

In 2014, he entered a no-contest plea to a misdemeanor charge of assaulting his two-year-old son. However, he had admitted to using a tree branch to strike the child on the back, buttocks, ankles, genitals, back, and legs as a form of punishment.

Reports stated that the former NFL star himself had experienced the same treatment when he was a kid.

In the same year, the former running back was fined $4,000 while avoiding a sentence. He was then placed on unpaid suspension by the NFL for a year.

Peterson was also arrested in 2022 after a verbal dispute with his wife on a flight from Los Angeles to Houston. She later clarified to the LAPD that the argument never turned physical. After he posted bond, the charges were ultimately dropped.
