American political activist and Trump ally, Charlie Kirk, had publicly voiced his opinions on gun violence and gun control in the US. As per an old video from April 2023, which has resurfaced on the internet, Kirk stated that while gun deaths are tragic, they are part of the US's reality of preserving the Second Amendment Rights.

He said,

"You will never live in a society when you have an armed citizenry and you won't have a single gun death. That is nonsense. It's drivel. But I am, I think it's worth it."

Further elaborating,

"I think it's worth to have a cost of, unfortunately, some gun deaths every single year so that we can have the Second Amendment to protect our other God-given rights. That is a prudent deal. It is rational. Nobody talks like this. They live in a complete alternate universe."

Kirk's comments were made after a shooting at the Christian Covenant School in Nashville, Tennessee, in April 2023.

Charlie Kirk, 31, died on September 10 after he was shot at an event at Utah Valley University.

While a suspect has not yet been identified, state authorities, as per CBS News on September 10, stated that a manhunt for the shooter is still in progress.

What has US President Donald Trump said about Charlie Kirk?

Following Charlie Kirk's death on September 10, US President Donald Trump took to Truth Social to pay his tribute and said:

"The great, and even Legendary, Charlie Kirk, is dead. No one understood or had the Heart of the Youth in the United States of America to be better than Charlie. He was loved and admired by all, and now, he is no longer with us. Melania and my sympathies go out to his beautiful wife Erika, and family, Charlie, we love you!"

Kirk was attending an event at the Utah Valley School as part of his organization's "The America Comeback Tour" when he was fatally shot. According to the Associated Press, Charlie Kirk died from a single shot in a reported targeted attack at the Sorensen Center courtyard of the university on Wednesday. As per videos of the incident, Kirk was speaking to a large crowd at a "Prove Me Wrong" debate, where he invited students to challenge his political and cultural views.

Born in 1993 in Prospect Heights, a suburb in Chicago, Kirk was known for his controversial remarks on gender, race, and politics, and founded Turning Point USA in 2012. The organization focused on mobilizing young conservatives.

Utah's governor, Spencer Cox, referred to the incident as a "political assasination."
