Dash filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy, and in his voluntary petition, reviewed by The Times, claimed that he is $25.3 million in debt.As per the petition, Dash makes no monthly income and has $4,350 to his name, including $100 in cash, a $500 cellphone, and two guns worth $750. Dash's attorney Brian D. Zinn, in a statement to The Times said,"While it may come with a negative societal preconceived notion, bankruptcy is simply a legal tool that many successful people have used to restructure their obligations to make their debts more manageable. Mr. Dash's bankruptcy filing will stop most lawsuits and other collection activities. It will give him breathing room to organize his finances and rebuild his credit."Dash owes the $25.3 million to 49 creditors, with almost $19.1 million owed to the government in the form of taxes and other debts. Dash also owes nearly $648,000 in domestic support obligations to ex-wife Rachel Roy and ex-girlfriend Cindy Morales.As per the petition, Dash's one-third share of Roc-A-Fella Records was auctioned to the New York Department of Taxation and Finance in August 2024 to help pay off the tax debt. Dash owes at least $5 million in civil lawsuits.Dash also owes $973,000 to Muntaser, who sued him for copyright infringement and defamation in 2019. Filmmaker Webber also sued Dash for libel and slander in April 2024, and as a result, the record producer was ordered to pay Webber $4 million earlier this year.Damon Dash has yet to make comments on the recent auction.
