On October 3, 2025, Diddy was convicted on two counts of transportation for prostitution after enduring a lengthy legal battle. As a result of his crimes, the music mogul was sentenced to four years and two months in prison, and the maximum fine permissible under the circumstances of $500,000. Before his sentencing, Diddy openly called his actions “disgusting, shameful and sick” and asked for forgiveness.

Now, as per TMZ reports, President Donald Trump appears to be mulling the possibility of granting Diddy a Presidential pardon. Reports suggest that while the overwhelming sentiment within the White House would be to stay out of the situation entirely, it may appear that the President has other plans. A commuted sentence would spring Diddy from prison instantly. As of now, he has served a total of 13 months of his sentence.

President Trump addressed Diddy’s pleas directly in a media session posted on social media by CSPAN.

“I call him Puff Daddy, has asked me for a pardon.”

As of now, there is no further clarity on the developing situation.

Diddy and legal team move to appeal sentence

Despite his willingness to assume responsibility for his actions while in court, on October 20, Diddy and his counsel moved to appeal the 50-month sentencing. The rapper's legal team filed a notice of appeal in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York only three months after the original verdict was presented.

Ahead of his sentencing, Diddy had penned a letter to U.S. District Court Judge Arun Subramanian, who was presiding over his trial. In it, the embattled star stated,

"I want to apologize and say how sincerely sorry I am for all of the hurt and pain that I have caused others by my conduct. I take full responsibility and accountability for my past wrongs."

He went on to add,

“I have no one to blame for my current reality and situation but myself. In my life, I have made many mistakes, but I am no longer running from them. … I understand that the mere words 'I'm sorry' will never be good enough as these words alone cannot erase the pain from the past."

While his words were perceived as genuine at the time, it's difficult to gauge that now, after Diddy has not only filed for appeal, but also requested a pardon from President Trump, only 3 months removed from receiving his final sentence.
