Piers Morgan is rooting for Julio César Chávez Jr. ahead of his fight against the controversial influencer-turned-boxer Jake Paul.

The media personality recently interviewed both competitors on his talk show. However, the Piers Morgan Uncensored anchor’s exchange with Jake Paul ended on a rather bitter note, with the latter storming off abruptly. Throughout their conversation, the English journalist posed tough questions to the YouTuber while also casting doubts on his legitimacy as a boxer.

Piers Morgan referenced Jake Paul’s bout with Mike Tyson and even showed him a clip from his interview with Canelo Álvarez and Terence Crawford. Both shared their disappointment about the much-publicized fight that resulted in Iron Mike’s defeat. In the short clip, Álvarez also claimed that Jake Paul was lucky he was not fighting him.

In response, Paul called them “b*tthurt” and asked them to “go see a therapist.” He further told Piers Morgan,

“It’s entertainment, man. If Mike Tyson wants to fight you, of course you're going to say yes. He walked away with tens of millions of dollars to support his family for the rest of their lives. And we've made the biggest fight in history. So, 128 million people would disagree with you that it wasn't something amazing.”

Jake Paul also claimed that he would defeat Canelo Álvarez. He further added,

“I'm knocking out the best of the best, beating all of these people time in and time again, and it's about time that you old heads and all these boxers, who think they know about the sport, put some respect on my name.”

Paul and Morgan continued their heated exchange until the latter decided to walk out. The broadcaster then immediately appealed to Julio César Chávez Jr.,

“Cheers Jake, really enjoyed that. And good luck to Julio, knock him out for all of us, will you?”

Piers Morgan hailed Jake Paul for being a brilliant businessman but questioned his boxing skills

Before the YouTuber/boxer walked out of his interview with the English journalist, both fiercely debated for minutes. Morgan acknowledged his guest as a “brilliant” businessman to cash in on his fight against Mike Tyson but kept questioning his skills. Morgan said,

“When you took on Mike Tyson as a business enterprise, there's no argument, you absolutely crushed the numbers, crushed the money.”

He added,

“The idea that you can say, on the one hand, ‘I'm a killer, I get in the ring with the best people,’ and you get in the ring with a guy who's 50. He's literally nearly as old as me.”

Jake Paul pointed out that besides Tyson, who was 58 at the time of their match, he has had bouts with notable fighters like Anderson Silva, Tyron Woodley, Andre August, and more. He mocked Morgan for previously laughing at him during his conversation with Canelo Álvarez and said,

“You're the problem here with this whole situation and criticism of my career. I'm trying to fight the best people and that's why Chavez is here, on Saturday. I want Canelo, I want Anthony Joshua, I want all these people. It's been five years in this sport.”

Piers Morgan accused Jake Paul of not fighting proper boxers other than Tommy Fury, a bout that he lost. However, Paul maintained that he had fought legitimate boxers, including Tyson. When Morgan pointed out that his guest might not stand a chance against peak Iron Mike, Jake disagreed and said,

“That’s what you think.”

He added,

“Anything is possible, that's why self-belief is the most powerful thing in the world.”

After arguing for a little bit more, both maintained their stance, with Morgan claiming Chavez Jr. might emerge as the winner in the upcoming fight. Jake Paul ended the discussion by calling the host out.

“The problem here is that you think that your opinion matters. Oh I'm just taking your audience to sell pay-per-views [on attending Piers Morgan Uncensored]. I don't give a f*ck about your show. You dumba** this is a f*cking business enterprise.”

For those unaware, Jake is fighting his next opponent and former WBC middleweight, Julio César Chávez Jr., on Saturday, June 28, 2025. The bout will happen at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California, and will stream exclusively via DAZN pay-per-view.
