Instagram is rolling out an award program for its content creators, dubbed Instagram Rings. The Meta-owned platform has announced that the award ceremony is an attempt at recognizing the most impactful creators around the world. With 3 billion users according to Rush, only 25 honorees across all genres will be given an award. They will be judged by a celebrity-studded panel. In their announcement this week, the platform, which launched back in 2010, touted the ceremony as a major event for content creators. It will be handed to them in a bespoke box, developed by Eva Chen, the head of fashion partnerships of the platform, Adam Mosseri, the head of the platform, and Wales Bonner. They will also receive a "golden ring," i.e., a visual icon around their avatar and Stories. Furthermore, Russh has reported that winners will be given the exclusive ability to customize the background color of their profiles, in addition to a Spotlight feed within the app, which highlights their work. The social media platform has announced that the laureates will be announced next year. The selection criteria reportedly focus on digital impact, originality, and contributions to the team. As of this writing, an exact date for the event also remains unclear.
