Insider reports that Katy Perry and Justin Trudeau might have a lot in common, as the two spark dating rumours.

After her split with fiancé and the father of her child, Daisy, Orlando Bloom, Katy Perry has been sparking dating rumors with Canada's ex-prime minister, Justin Trudeau. The duo was first spotted together having an intimate dinner date in Montreal. The date took place on July 28 at the upscale Le Violon restaurant.
Katy Perry and Justin Trudeau commonalities
Both Katy and Trudeau have come out of long-term relationships. While Perry's nine-year on-and-off relationship with the Pirates of the Caribbean actor ended recently, Justin's 18-year marriage to Sophie Grégoire ended in 2023.
As for their budding romance, a Canadian source told PEOPLE magazine, "They are interested in each other, but it will take a while to see where this goes. She is traveling around the world, and he is figuring out his life now that he is no longer prime minister of Canada, but there is an attraction. They have a lot in common.”
They further added, “Music is one of many things they can share. Both are idealists and still live in a world where they think they can make improvements, although it has gotten more difficult.”
“Their own personal responsibilities could make this relationship move slower than it would, but there are ways to see the other and still fulfill their parenting responsibilities,” the source says. “For one thing, they each have an ex. So, duties are split in half. And long-distance relationships, while still hard, are possible for these two.”
While another source told the magazine,
“Justin is a [politician] who is used to living a secret life with his personal activity, and wouldn’t put on a public display at this stage. He knows they were being watched and is smart enough to play it low-key for now.”
Following the dinner date, the ex-Prime Minister was seen at Katy Perry's sold-out Lifetimes Tour at Montréal's Bell Centre. Experts also analyzed the new couple, as Brie Temple, Tawkify’s Chief Matchmaker, told The Daily Mail,
“It can be a powerful partnership built on shared purpose, Not just chemistry.”
While dating expert Julie Nguyen agreed with the sentiment, adding that it is “more of a mutual admiration society between two master communicators.”
Nguyen also made quite an interesting comparison and observation, stating, “They’re both performers, just in different costumes.”
