On December 15, American singer-songwriter Michelle Branch shared on her Instagram stories that she attended a Diddy party. She posted a screenshot of her text messages with her former Wreckers bandmate Jessica Harp about a 2004 MTV Video Music Awards afterparty hosted by Sean Diddy Combs.

In the conversation, Harp texted Branch a Getty Images photo of the two arriving at the party with the text,

"Not me watching the Diddy docuseries and realizing that one of the freak offs absolutely happened this night."

Branch replied, saying, "Oh. My. God. I've wondered tbh." Harp then said that she was grateful that the duo left early,

"I don't remember why we left but so glad our night was smoking weed and eating tacos with Owen Wilson instead."

Netflix released Sean Combs: The Reckoning on December 2, 2025, on the streaming platform. The docuseries features allegations against rapper and Bad Boy Records mogul Sean Diddy Combs. 50 Cent produced the docuseries.

More about the newly released Diddy documentary

In September 2024, Sean Diddy Combs was indicted on charges of sex trafficking, racketeering, and transportation to engage in prostitution. Prosecutors claimed that the parties Combs hosted were a hub of his crimes.

Combs, who is currently serving a four-year sentence for prostitution related charges, criticized the Netflix docuseries on allegations against him as false. Combs also blamed Netflix for incorporating stolen footage.

Through a spokesperson, Combs claimed that the docuseries features private and pre-indictment material,

"Today's GMA teaser confirms that Netflix relied on stolen footage that was never authorized for release. As Netflix and CEO Ted Sarandos know, Mr Combs has been amassing footage since he was 19 to tell his own story, in his own way. It is fundamentally unfair, and illegal, for Netflix for misappropriate that work."

The statement continued,

"None of this was obtained from Sean Combs or his team, and its inclusion raises very serious questions about how this material was accessed and why Netflix chose to use it."

Netflix denied Combs' claims and claimed that the docuseries has no ties to any past communication between the streaming giant and the music mogul. A spokesperson for Netflix, while speaking to Deadline, also claimed that the footage featured in the docuseries was legally obtained and that it is "not a hit piece or an act of retribution."

Combs had previously claimed that the docuseries is a result of 50 Cent's "personal vendetta" against him.
