Billy Bob Thornton has reportedly opened up about his past marriages, including with actress Angelina Jolie. In an exclusive interview with Rolling Stone on November 17, the actor elaborated on his experience of being married six times and how he eventually hit the "right spot."

The Landman actor reportedly was married to Angelina from 2000 to 2003. He told Rolling Stone that it was one of the most "civilised breakups" he had, and they both had a "great time together." He said,

"That was one of the greatest times of my life. She and I are still very, very close friends."

Billy explained that their split was due to "lifestyle" differences. He added that their relationship was constantly put in the public spotlight. He said,

"When we met, I was the more famous one. And then when we got together, for some reason, the people and the media are very interested in celebrity couples, that seems to be a very popular thing. So it was weird. We couldn’t go anywhere. I mean, we did, and then of course we had times when we would say things that became sound bites or whatever."

Describing her as a "great person", Billy Bob Thornton noted,

"Hers is a global lifestyle and mine is an agoraphobic lifestyle. So that’s really, that’s the only reason we’re probably not still together."

People magazine reported that Billy has been married to his sixth wife, Connie Angland, since 2014, and the couple share a 21-year-old daughter, Bella.

Billy Bob Thornton revealed the difference in being married to Connie from other relationships. Describing it as finding the "right spot", he noted,

"The other times I got married were just like, you had a little too much to drink one night and somebody said, 'We should get married.' You go, 'Yeah, okay.' I always tell people, at least I was trying."
