Actress Sally Kirkland, who is best known for her role in the 1987 film "Anna," for which she won a Golden Globe Award, entered hospice care on Friday due to recent health problems stemming from the complications of Dementia. According to Celebrity Net Worth, Sally Kirkland, who now reportedly has a net worth of $50,000 after losing a substantial portion of her fortune during the 2007 financial crisis, is currently receiving hospice care at an unnamed hospital in Palm Springs. A GoFundMe page has been set up in her name by her friends, the details of which were shared by her representative, Michael Greene.

Sally Kirkland Jr, who is named after her mother, Sally Kirkland Sr., the former fashion editor for Vogue, began her career appearing in off-Broadway plays in the early 1960s. According to Page Six, she was actively involved in the emerging art scene alongside Andy Warhol. She appeared in smaller roles until her breakthrough performance in "Anna," which earned her an Academy Award nomination. She later appeared in the 1991 film "The Haunted," for which she received a Golden Globe nomination. Some of her other works include "Steel Magnolias," "Days of Our Lives," "Bruce Almighty," and many others.

More about Sally Kirkland's recent health scare, as she enters hospice care amid rising health problems

Sally Kirkland reportedly suffered a massive fall last year while alone in her home. According to Page Six, the legendary actress fractured not just her left hip but also several other areas of her body. Following this, while recovering, she also developed two life-threatening infections.

A part of the GoFundMe page, which has been set up by actors Coty Galloway, Paige Dylan, and Mel England, reads:

"This past year Sally fractured her four bones in her neck, right wrist, and her left hip. While recovering she developed two separate life-threatening infections. The combination of these injuries and infections have required extensive hospitalizations and rehab beyond the 100 days insurance will cover."

Apart from last year's fall, Kirkland suffered another fall earlier this year while in the shower, which resulted in injuries to her ribs and led her to the need for 24/7 care.

Several people have donated to the fundraiser, which has already raised $58,836 out of its 65k goal. The organizers shared an update for fans on November 8, stating:

"Thank you for all your love and support. Sally is grateful for your kindness and love. Sally is on hospice now and is resting comfortably. Please hold and send the light for Sally."

This is not the first time the beloved actress has suffered such a fall. According to Daily Mail, back in 2018, during an appearance on The John Fugelsang Show, she fell during filming of the show and had to undergo surgery. She was taken to the nearby hospital and later made a full recovery.

The GoFundMe page also notes that apart from the bad advice Sally Kirkland "received from a financial advisor-business manager in 2007 during the market crash," which caused her to lose her savings, she also lost her supplement insurance, including her Medigap coverage, after SAG-AFTRA canceled it in 2021. This left Sally Kirkland having to face "extensive out-of-pocket costs that have exceeded her savings and monthly pension income."
