Singer Sean Kingston's mother, Janice Turner, just received her sentence over four counts of wire fraud and one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud that the mother-son duo were charged with earlier this year. Turner will be serving five years in prison and three years on probation.

“My intention was to keep my son afloat in this difficult industry. They used him and abused him. I am begging for mercy for me and my son," she told the judges.

According to the prosecutors on the case, the mother and son had defrauded luxury merch vendors out of more than $1 million in high-end goods, including a bulletproof Cadillac Escalade. The sentencing comes out to be very lenient, as at the time, the two could have been facing possible maximum sentences of as much as 20 years for each count.

They were arrested in 2024, though they claimed to have made wire payments for the items. This was not, however, Sean's or his mother's first run-in with the law, as he received a two-year probation sentence for trafficking stolen property, and Janice served an almost 18-month prison sentence for bank fraud. Kingston's sentencing has been scheduled for August 28.

What is Sean Kingston's net worth?

Sean Kingston currently has a net worth of $400 thousand, according to Celebrity Net Worth. This number is not a lot considering that at one time, the singer was practically a household name. Kingston is responsible for a lot of chart-topping hits, including Beautiful Girls, Fire Burning, and Eenie Meenie featuring Justin Bieber, and even collaborations with artists such as Cher Lloyd, Wiz Khalifa, Chris Brown, Tory Lanez, and more.

However, over the years, he has suffered quite a lot of financial loss based on the decisions he made. In 2014, three different luxury cars of his, including a Mercedes-Benz G-Class SUV and a Lamborghini, were repossessed after he reportedly was not able to finish the payments.

That was not all, as a number of jewelers, including a New York-based jeweler known as "Aqua Master," came forward with allegations that Kingston had failed to pay them for items. "Aqua Master" eventually sued him and won, with Sean having to pay him $300,000.

Over the years, many such incidents arose where he couldn't gather the funds to make payments for what he was striving to be an extravagant lifestyle.
