According to a now-deleted tweet, Steve Harvey mentioned Diddy in one of his posts from 2017, congratulating the Bad Boy Records founder. The exact reason why he congratulated Diddy is not clear. Still, many assumed it was the $1 million that he donated to Howard University to set up the Sean Combs Scholarship Fund in 2016.
This is what the Family Feud host wrote in September 2017:
"My brother @Diddy is doing a world of good for these kids".
However, before Steve Harvey deleted his tweet, the university took back Sean Combs' honorary doctorate and returned the money he donated as well. That was not it; Howard University also terminated Diddy's pledge agreement. Some even say that Harvey's decision to delete the tweet shows that he does not want his name to be associated with Diddy in any way.
Rumors about Diddy dating Steve Harvey's stepdaughter, Lori Harvey
While there is not much drama between Diddy and Steve Harvey, even after the deleted tweet. Another rumor that resurfaced is Sean Combs dating Lori Harvey. Back in 2019, the two were seen together, and netizens started speculating if Combs and Harvey were dating. Months later, the rumor mill stated that Lori was also dating Diddy's son, Justin Combs.
However, in 2023, Lori was finally able to shed light on the truth. She was asked what the "biggest misconception" about her was, to which she replied:
"There's been so many stories that have been made up about me. I've seen stories about me being fully in love with somebody, and we have this whole relationship, and I'll see the guy, and I'm like, 'I've actually never even met him before.' I've heard I dated a father and son before. Absolutely not true," referring to Diddy and Justin Combs.
Coming back to Steve Harvey's deleted tweet. It is not uncommon to see celebrities and A-listers deleting or changing a few of their tweets and posts concerning the rap mogul. Ever since Diddy was arrested on charges of s*x trafficking, racketeering, and transportation to engage in prostitution, many of the people in his circle have been distancing themselves from him.
A few examples are Usher and Megan Fox, who deleted or changed their posts about supporting Diddy in the past.
Steve Harvey deleting a tweet mentioning Diddy may seem like a minor gesture in the past, but in this new light, where Diddy may face lifetime imprisonment, it appears to be an act of self-preservation. Harvey is not the first famous individual to do this, and may not be the last.
