"What world are we living in??" — Jenna Johnson calls out online troll for criticizing her 2-year-old son for drinking from a bottle

Dancer and choreographer Jenna Johnson was seemingly upset with the online critics. According to People Magazine, this goes back to when a netizen made a harsh comment about her son, Rome, for drinking from a bottle.

The person sent Johnson a DM, replying to a photo in which her two-year-old, Rome, was seen drinking from a bottle. The message read:

“Way too old for this fat r----- to have a bottle.”

Johnson took a screengrab of the text and posted it as a story on her Instagram story on July 5, 2025. In a lengthy note, she shared that she was with her son after not seeing him for four days. However, some people had strong opinions about her son using a bottle. The dancer wrote:

“What world are we living in?? I understand that I put my life out there publicly, which I honestly want to STOP doing when extremely rude and harmful messages toward my baby are sent to me. But are we ok as a society?”

Criticising the person, she noted:

“Also, you yourself are a MOMI!!! Would you want me, a total stranger, to DM you this about your child? Because he's drinking from a bottle??? Like WHAT ON EARTH IS HAPPENING.”

Jenna Johnson said she didn’t mind when other moms gave kind advice and was usually open to suggestions. She said she liked her followers on social media and felt close to them. Nonetheless, she had had enough of the mean people who kept being rude online. She asked them to stop following her and to go do something else with their time.

In a subsequent Instagram story on July 6, 2025, Jenna Johnson wrote that she cried after reading the kind messages from her followers.

Johnson said she was sad the day before because of how mean some people were, but her kind followers showed her love and support, which made her feel better and happy again. She wrote:

“Let's remember that we are all humans, navigating life the best we can! I promise to try and only spread positivity and light on my feed and I hope you feel inspired to do the same. But seriously, thank you for having my back and making me feel seen. So grateful to each of you!!”

Earlier this year, she spoke to People Magazine about Rome, saying that he started talking a lot, and it was surprising how fast he learned new words. She felt proud that he could already count to ten.

She also shared that raising him was the best thing ever because he loved dancing, singing, and performing. Jenna Johnson mentioned:

“What's fun is he loves watching us dance. If we ever have a video of us dancing, he loves watching it over and over and over again. So we'll see what he wants to do.”

Rome was born to Johnson and Val Chmerkovskiy in January 2023. The couple married in 2019 after dating for almost five years.
