Kevin Parker dropped the highly-anticipated Tame Impala studio album titled "Deadbeat" today, Friday, October 17. According to Billboard, the new Tame Impala album is the fifth studio album release and is the first album under Parker's new deal with Columbia Records, following the end of his contract with Universal Music. The lastest album comes just three months after Kevin Parker released the lead single from the upcoming record, titled "End of Summer," on July 25.

The new Tame Impala album is the first in five years, with the previous one, "The Slow Rush" having been released in 2020. The news of new album was officially announced last month in September, and a portion of the press release obtained by Tinnitist reads:

"On his fifth album Deadbeat, Tame Impale (Kevin Parker) sculpts a collection of wickedly potent club-psych explorations as a vehicle for some of his most direct, brain-wormy songwriting to date, recasting Tame Impala as a kind of future primitive rave act in the process. The album is deeply inspired by bush doof culture and the Western Australia rave scene, recasting Tame Impala as a kind of future primitive rave act in the process."

More about the new Tame Impala album, which arrives after a gap of five years

The new Tame Impala album consists of twelve songs and is the first full-length studio album since Kevin Parker won his first Grammy Award earlier this year for the Best Dance/Electronic Recording for his collaboration with electronic duo Justice.

According to Billboard, two other singles from the album have aldready been released. The second single titled, "Loser" was released on September 5, and the third single, "Dracula," was released on September 26.

In a recent interview with Dork Magazine, published on October 16, Kevin Parker discussed the kind of music he aimed to bring to his fans through the new album. He said:

“I wanted to make a really simplistic album sonically.Something that was really almost bare bones. The album that I wanted to make was even more raw and distorted than it ended up being, just because I spent so much time with it. If I give myself enough time, I’ll just end up adding layers to things. That was the vision originally. Something really punky.”

He further added:

“I did want this one to have a different mood. It’s nice to have the ball rolling again with all the album stuff,” he says. “It’s been pretty crazy the last couple of months finishing the album. Overwhelming, but ultimately good.”

Kevin Parker and other members of Tame Impala touring band are set to embark on a European tour next year, starting on May 4 with their first concert in Portugal.
