US President Donald Trump celebrates his birthday on June 14. As per his direction, people will now get to enjoy free entry to the national parks on his birthday. This decision comes at a time when the government has removed Martin Luther King Jr. Day and Juneteenth from the list.

The National Park Service has updated the list of days when it offers free public entry. This will come into effect from 2026. According to the page:

“Beginning in 2026, free entrance on these days will be for US citizens and residents only. Nonresidents will pay the regular entrance fee and any applicable nonresident fees.”

The NPS also stated:

“Come experience the national parks! All National Park Service sites that charge an entrance fee will offer free admission to everyone (other fees, including timed entry or reservation fees, may apply).”

Besides being Trump’s birthday, June 14 is also observed as Flag Day. Meanwhile, Deputy Press Secretary of the White House, Anna Kelly, shared a statement about the reception of the news. She said:

“It would take a simple Google search to determine that June 14 is Flag Day, which is obviously why it is included on this list of dates. It’s unfortunate that Axios and the Daily Beast apparently want to make everything controversial - even this overwhelmingly popular, nonpartisan endeavor to make our national parks more accessible.”

What did Donald Trump say at the National Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony?

On December 4, President Trump and Melania attended the lighting of the National Christmas Tree, which was the 103rd year. Melania did the honours of turning on the switch to light the tree. The President said:

“It's a beautiful job they did on creating that tree. It's a beauty.”

Trump also credited the people at the National Park Service, saying:

“Let's also express our gratitude to the great people of the National Park Service. They're incredible, the job they've done. As well as the unbelievable performers here tonight. You're going to see some incredible performers, and we have in the audience the Beach Boys. They're great.”

Trump said that during this special religious time, Christians celebrate the miracle that happened in Bethlehem over 2,000 years ago, when Jesus came from heaven to be with people. He said Jesus brought God’s love to everyone and offered hope and salvation to all. His speech went on:

“And we just settled another war today. You saw that with Rwanda and the Congo. It's been going on for 34 years, millions of people killed. Could be 20 million. They don't know what the number is, and we just settled it today. That was a big one. We're very happy to announce it on this important day.”

Trump said Jesus’s birth changed the course of human history. He mentioned that Jesus taught people to care for one another, help one another, and remember that God created every child and is special.
