Lil Durk, who was arrested back in 2024, for allegedly hiring five men to kill rapper Quando Rondo, resulting in death of the latter's counsin, Lul Pab, now faces potential new charges. According to The Hot New Hip Hop, the Grammy-winning artist, who has been in prison since his arrest last year, was allegedly found with an Apple watch in August. However, before prison authorities could seize the contraband in perfect condition, Lil Durk allegedly attempted to destroy the piece of evidence.

According to Newsweek, on August 22, 2022, Quando Rondo, whose real name is Tyquian Terrel Bowman and his cousin, Saviay'a Robinson, who went by the name Lul Pab, were traveling together in Los Angeles when five men, allgegedly hired by Lil Durk opened fire on them. It was later revealed that the attack was intended for Quando Rondo, who escaped unscathed. Two years later, on October 23, 2024, Lil Durk and the five other men were arrested for their involvement in the incident. The "Blackdoor" singer later was later charged with murder-for-hire along with several additional charges.

More about the new indictment against Lil Durk

The new indictment, brought against Lil Durk, whose real name is Durk Devontay Banks, was filed on Monday, October 6. The statement filed claims that an Apple watch was found on the rapper in late August, which he allgegedly attempted to destroy immediately after being caught. A part of the statement, obtained by The Hot New Hip Hop, reads:

"In late August 2025, BOP officials seized an Apple Watch with cellular capability from defendant. Even more troubling is Banks’ conduct after he was caught. Rather than accept responsibility for this violation, defendant allegedly obstructed the investigation attempting to damage and/or destroy the communications device."

Prosecutors are now requesting an anonymous jury due to concerns about potential witness tampering. According to XXL Magazine, Lil Durk was previously found to have made unmonitered calls back in December of last year while imprisoned at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Los Angeles.

Drew Findling and his legal team, who are representing the "Broadway Girls" singer, released their own statement asking for the charges against him in the murder-for-hire case to be dismissed, calling them "impermissibly vague." The statement read:

"This indictment is impermissibly vague. It leaves the defense to guess as to the government’s theory of guilt, and it leaves the government free to change that theory as its cooperators’ stories morph over time to meet the demands of a conviction.”

It further added:

“What sum of money is alleged to have been offered as bounty? In cash, via a wire transfer or a written check? What were the ‘lucrative music opportunities’ that served as the alleged consideration for the T.B.’s murder? Was it a feature on one of Mr. Banks’ songs that the government claims was offered and/or furnished as consideration for the murder? If so, which song? The defense is entitled to know.”

According to The Hot New Hip Hop, Lil Durk's trial regarding the murder for hire charge was initially set to take place this month but has now been postponed to January 2026.
