Kentucky Republican Rep. Thomas Massie and California Democrat Rep. Ro Khanna worked together to bring this bill forward. Massie also mentioned that Trump could just release the files himself. Additionally, POTUS Trump's signature comes after he backtracked on a statement he made regarding signing the bill. Initially, the president said that it would be "soft and foolish" of Republicans to vote for the release of the documents. He changed his statement, saying the opposite, that they should vote for the release of the Epstein files, and he would definitely sign it when it reaches his desk.
