Prada Group has officially acquired the Milanese fashion house Versace for $1.4 billion. In October 2025, Versace introduced its first campaign under the creative direction of Dario Vitale.

Dario Vitale is the former design director at Miu Miu. Vitale's debut Versace campaign is known as the Greca campaign. It highlighted Versace's eyewear collection and featured British actors Joseph Quinn and Aimee Lou Wood.

The campaign also included DJ and producer Josh Caffé, composer Ouri, bodybuilder Wesley Glouchkov, and New York City line cook Giovanni Luciano. Opening lines of the campaign script read:

"It is all hot 'n' slow, it is the summer of who knows, what goes, all we do know is these two have been yearning for their bodies to touch."

Versace announced the acquisition by Prada via an official Instagram post

The post read:

"Happy Birthday, Gianni. Today is your day and the day Versace joins the Prada family. I am thinking of the smile you would have had on your face. I miss you, always. 🕊️🤍 (First image of Gianni Versace taken in 1979. Donatella Versace is the sister of the brand's founder, Gianni Versace. On the day of the acquisition's announcement, Donatella shared this heartfelt message on Instagram and celebrated the birthday of her late brother. She stated that Gianni would have been happy to see Versace join the Italian brand.

The new executive chairman of Versace is Lorenzo Bertelli, the son of Miuccia Prada. The company also issued an official press release, stating:

"Milan, 2 December 2025, Prada S.p.A. (1913:HK) today announces the successful completion of the acquisition of Versace from Capri Holdings (NYSE: CPRI), after having received all required regulatory clearances."

It also added:

"Pioneer of a dialogue with contemporary society across diverse cultural spheres and an influential leader in luxury fashion, Prada Group founds its identity on essential values such as creative independence, transformation, and sustainable development, offering its brands a shared vision to interpret and express their spirit."

Sharing details about the group, the authorities stated:

"The Group owns some of the world’s most prestigious luxury brands, Prada, Miu Miu, Church's, Car Shoe, Versace, the historic Pasticceria Marchesi and Luna Rossa, and works constantly to enhance their value by increasing their visibility and appeal.
"The Group designs, manufactures and distributes ready-to-wear collections, leather goods and footwear in more than 70 countries through a network of 620 stores as well as e-commerce channels, selected e-tailers and department stores around the world. The Group, which also operates in the eyewear and beauty sector through licensing agreements, has 25 owned factories and 15,529 employees (at June 30, 2025, excluding Versace)"

Notably, the Italian company's heir, Lorenzo Bertelli, has declared that he does not plan to make drastic changes at Versace. He wants a gradual change with new ideas and innovations.
