DJ Akademiks took to X to jibe at former Rolling Stone reporter Andre Gee for getting sacked. The social media personality took to X this week to share a string of screenshots poking fun at Andre and his recent setback of getting fired from Rolling Stone magazine. The latter also took to X to raise funds for himself, which the livestreamer poked fun at. Fans have since begun wondering who the author is. According to his profile on the magazine, Gee is a Brooklyn-based writer from Washington, DC. He is a hip-hop fan, which he previously covered at the outlet. He also previously worked for Uproxx, and his work has reportedly been highlighted by the Los Angeles and New York Press Clubs. "His work, whether at Rolling Stone or Uproxx, or being highlighted by the Los Angeles and New York Press Clubs respectively, reads like a corrective: a reminder that hip hop deserves not just attention but care," reads an excerpt about him on Da Chicken Shack. The drama between DJ Akademiks and Andre Gee explored: The first screenshot on DJ Akademiks' post was of a Rolling Stone article about him with the headline: "Rumble's Deal with Akademiks is a sign of the hip-hop world's right-wing impulse." Published in April 2023 and penned by Andree Gee, its subheading read: "The popular livestreamer is only the latest rap media figure to drift into conservative talking points." The second was a screenshot of the author's tweet from this week, confirming the outlet had fired him. He was also attempting to crowdfund via GoFundMe. "after 3 years, i was laid off by rolling stone. im appreciative of my time there, but i know this is opening a better path++ putting everything into my newsletter for now, plz subscribe: andrejgee.substack.com + a gofundme for anyone who'd like to help:" In the third slide, DJ Akademiks confirmed that Andree had blocked him. "Don’t hide now. where’s the energy," he captioned his tweet. As of this writing, Gee has yet to respond to the livestreamer's jibes. However, DJ Akademiks doubled down on his sentiments when a fan, @Dee_Free, commented, "you can wash my car if you need some bread lil bro. I’ll employ you." The livestreamer penned, "Got you with $30 for the full detailing." In other news, DJ Akademiks made headlines just yesterday when he claimed that Diddy will be subjected to the "Gunna treatment" when he makes it out of prison. Stay tuned to SoapCentral for more.
