Edward Coristine, also known as “Big Balls,” held a top advisory position at the General Services Administration (GSA). He has now left his post, as confirmed by the White House to several news outlets, including WIRED and Reuters. Coristine resigned on June 24, 2025, adding to the growing list of high-profile exits from DOGE since Elon Musk stepped away from the federal initiative.
Elon Musk left his role as DOGE Chief in May, which led to a bunch of other high-ranking folks quitting too. Steve Davis, who was Musk's right-hand man and ran a lot of DOGE's day-to-day stuff also stepped down not long after. This latest news makes people wonder even more about who will lead DOGE next and where it's headed.
Big Balls got a job as a Senior Advisor at the GS-15 level in the GSA just four weeks before he quit, on May 31. His appointment had drawn attention due to both his age and background.
Who is ‘Big Balls’?
Edward Coristine is a 19-year-old engineer who was born in December 2005. He is a high school graduate. Before joining DOGE, he briefly worked at Neuralink, a Musk-led brain tech company, and at LesserEvil, his father’s snack business.
People knew Coristine online as "Big Balls," and he was one of the youngest team members linked to the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), a project that Elon Musk started.
Before his government role, he had worked at Musk’s Neuralink and briefly at LesserEvil, a consumer goods company associated with his family. He also founded Tesla.Sexy LLC, a domain management firm with international web holdings.
Despite his recent rise in government, Coristine's past employment history and family ties had attracted scrutiny. In 2022, he was reportedly dismissed from a cybersecurity company for an alleged data leak. Additionally, media reports highlighted details of his grandfather’s role in Soviet intelligence, although no formal investigations were reported in connection to his federal position.
Future of DOGE in question following key departures
DOGE, established to streamline federal processes through technological innovation, has seen multiple high-profile exits since Musk’s withdrawal. While the White House has maintained that the department’s mission will continue, it has provided no additional information regarding new appointments or structural changes following the string of resignations.
As of now, Edward Coristine has not issued a public statement regarding his departure, and inquiries sent to his official and personal accounts remain unanswered. The General Services Administration has also declined to comment on any transition or interim replacements.
The DOGE department remains operational, but the recent leadership shifts have raised questions about its ability to fulfill its mission effectively.
