BWay Yungy is a rapper and hip-hop artist whose real name is Jeffrey Tate. Yungy is NBA YoungBoy's younger brother. According to a post by No Jumper, Jeffrey Tate was arrested and held in custody on April 30, 2025. He was then arrested on May 1 on charges of alleged marijuana possession and unlawful carrying of a weapon. Currently, Yungy is held in custody at the Tarrant County Corrections Center. According to reports by WVLA, this is not the first time BWay Yungy has been arrested. Yungy and another older brother, Davaughn Tate, were arrested for the alleged murder of 17-year-old Javon Brown in East Baton Rouge. They were charged with second-degree murder and illegal use of a weapon.
Next year, in 2020, Yungy was also involved in a shooting and escaped with just a few injuries. The shooting happened in the same area in East Baton Rouge.
Jeffrey, Kentrell DeSean Gaulden (NBA YoungBoy), and Davaughn were not the only brothers who had a run-in with the law. Another Tate sibling was also arrested last year in December for possessing an unlicensed firearm and three pythons during a traffic stop.
