Who is BWay Yungy? NBA YoungBoy's brother gets arrested in Texas on charges of unlawful possession of marijuana and weapon

BWay Yungy is a rapper and hip-hop artist whose real name is Jeffrey Tate. Yungy is NBA YoungBoy's younger brother. His professional music career started in 2020, when he started amassing followers on platforms such as Triller and Instagram. Some of his well-known songs include "Who Wann Do Sum," "Sin Again," "Trap Talk," and "Message Sent."

According to a post by No Jumper, Jeffrey Tate was arrested and held in custody on April 30, 2025. He was then arrested on May 1 on charges of alleged marijuana possession and unlawful carrying of a weapon. Currently, Yungy is held in custody at the Tarrant County Corrections Center. Some speculate that the 22-year-old rapper may face formal charges and may be released from the correction center on bail. It all depends on the rapper's offenses, as well as his previous records.

According to reports by WVLA, this is not the first time BWay Yungy has been arrested. Yungy and another older brother, Davaughn Tate, were arrested for the alleged murder of 17-year-old Javon Brown in East Baton Rouge. They were charged with second-degree murder and illegal use of a weapon.

Next year, in 2020, Yungy was also involved in a shooting and escaped with just a few injuries. The shooting happened in the same area in East Baton Rouge.

Jeffrey, Kentrell DeSean Gaulden (NBA YoungBoy), and Davaughn were not the only brothers who had a run-in with the law. Another Tate sibling was also arrested last year in December for possessing an unlicensed firearm and three pythons during a traffic stop.

Coming back to another famous sibling, NBA YoungBoy was recently arrested on the grounds of federal gun charges in 2021 and drug and weapon charges last year, in 2024. A few days ago, when Yungy was arrested, his older brother, Kentrell DeSean Gaulden, was under house arrest in Utah and waiting for his upcoming trial.
