Popular TikTok influencer, Gabriel Jesús Sarmiento, was reportedly shot dead during his livestream. The tragic incident took place when the influencer was criticizing criminal groups on his stream.
Gabriel Jesús Sarmiento was a 25-year-old Venezuela-based TikTok personality. He was known for his candid perspectives on organized crimes, criminal gangs, corruption, and more.
As of this writing, the case is under investigation and is being looked upon by Venezuela’s Attorney General.

The probe has been confirmed by the country's attorney general, Tarek William Saab, who told People that the Public Prosecutor's Office is dealing with the case.
Sarmiento claimed that some cops were also in cahoots with criminal organizations like El Tren del Llano and El Tren de Aragua. The influencer constantly criticized the alleged activities of these gangs in his work. According to the authorities, Sarmiento had previously stated alleged threats made by gang members and imposters.
As per People, the prosecutor's office said that right before the shooting, Sarmiento openly acknowledged the threats he had received from criminal groups, including GEDOs (or, Structured Organized Crime Groups).
“[He] had publicly denounced the threats he received from members of GEDOs and alleged police officers,” officers stated.
The livestream clip of shooting that went viral reportedly showed the influencer's mother shouting and beating on a door. At the same time, a man was reportedly heard asking about what happened. While this happened, on the other side of the door, Gabriel can allegedly be heard shouting,
"They shot me."
The stream abruptly ended after two men with weapons were allegedly seen on the screen.
Gabriel Jesús Sarmiento’s family alleged that he was shot around nine times. The influencer’s mother also suffered injuries in the attack. As per reports, she was shot in the belly.
The video of Gabriel’s shooting has since gone viral on social media. This led to uproar drawing attention to mounting worries about safety, censorship, and criminal activity by gangs in parts of Latin America.
According to local media reports, Sarmiento's execution may have been motivated by his outspoken condemnation of crime networks and claims against corrupt politicians.
