Gabrielle Henry, Miss Universe Jamaica 2025, withdrew from the Miss Universe finals after she was hospitalized in Thailand. Her absence came on Thursday, Nov. 20, one day after she fell off the stage during the preliminary evening-gown round. The incident raised concern among fans and the pageant community, as videos of the fall spread quickly online.

Henry was seen walking across the stage in an orange dress and high heels during the preliminary show on Wednesday, Nov. 19. She missed a step and fell off the stage. Later, videos posted on social media showed her being removed on a stretcher. A representative for the Miss Universe pageant has not commented on her status, but several officials close to Henry gave updates on her condition.

Raul Rocha, the owner of the Miss Universe pageant, visited Henry in the hospital soon after the accident.

He said in an Instagram post, “I was there with her family and her, and thankfully, there are no broken bones and she is under good care.”

The Miss Universe Jamaica Organization also shared that Henry was receiving treatment and further testing to support her full recovery.

Gabrielle Henry’s background

Gabrielle Henry is 28 years old and represents Jamaica on the international stage. She earned the Miss Universe Jamaica 2025 title earlier this year. Henry is also known as Dr. Gabrielle Henry, which reflects her professional background. She has been active in public service and women’s health work. Her role as Miss Jamaica allowed her to share her message with a wider audience.

Gabrielle Henry participated in community work in Jamaica before she entered the Miss Universe competition. She was a supporter of education-oriented and basic healthcare outreach programs. She has aimed to ensure the availability of medical information and educating youth to make wise choices. Most of her fans commended her because she managed to combine her medical practice and pageant life.

Henry got into the Miss Universe pageant, hoping that she could use this platform to put into perspective health issues that are considered to plague Jamaican society. She spoke about the significance of representation, discipline, and service. She attended various pre-pageant events in Thailand as well as Jamaica and internationally as a representative of her country.

What happened at the Miss Universe Pageant?

The fall took place during the preliminary evening gown segment on Nov. 19. As she walked, Gabrielle Henry made his step forward and slipped out of the main stage. Employees came out to attend to her and doctors arrived thereafter. They then took her to Paolo Rangsit Hospital in Thailand to treat her.

Later on, the Miss Universe Jamaica Organization also came out with a statement.

It said, “Medical professionals are attending to her care and have advised that she is not suffering from any life-threatening injuries; however, they continue to conduct tests to ensure her full recovery.”

After this, Henry withdrew from the main finals of the Miss Universe since she was still medically monitored. Her resignation was in times of scandal in the Miss Universe Organization. The judge Omar Harfouch resigned earlier this week.

He argued that the organization established an impromptu jury to select 30 finalists and then the preliminaries began. Then Claude Makélélé and Princess Camilla di Borbone delle Due Sicilie resigned as well bringing further stress to the pageant of the year.
