Grace Springer, the 28-year-old Coldplay fan who went viral after filming the infamous kiss cam scene at Coldplay's performance in Boston on 16 July 2025. She went viral as a result of the video, which unintentionally revealed a potentially damaging affair between Astronomer CEO Andy Byron and the company's Chief People Officer, Kristin Cabot.

Grace Springer has revealed the significance of the footage and also revealed that she didn't make any money from it.

The now-famous video was captured in Foxborough, Massachusetts, during Coldplay's "Music of the Spheres" World Tour stop. The camera was panned to Byron and Cabot, who were seen hugging while vocalist Chris Martin urged the crowd to kiss for the Jumbotron. Everyone noticed the way they reacted after being on the big screen. Cabot could be seen saying:

“F–king hell, it’s me"
“This is awkward."

while covering her face.

Chris Martin reacted to the incident by saying:

“Whoa, look at these two. All right, come on. You’re OK.”

As the two stopped hugging and separated from each other, he added:

Either they’re having an affair or they’re just very shy. I’m not quite sure what to do.”

Grace Springer: From concert goer to viral figure

Grace Springer had attended the Boston concert with her friends to watch Coldplay perform. She later uploaded the video, unaware of the impact it would create. Speaking to This Morning on 21 July 2025, Grace Springer said:

“I was hoping to see myself on the big screen, and I love to capture moments, so that’s why my phone was out in the first place.”

She added:

“In the moment when I filmed it, I didn’t think much of it, but of course, everyone was kind of chattering. There was over 50,000 people at the concert, so it was a hot topic.”

The video had barely received a few thousand views when she uploaded it right before bed. When she woke up, there were 7 million, and now there are over 50 million.

Grace Springer also mentioned that she doesn't feel any regret, wouldn't have done anything different, and that her thoughts are with Andy's family.

“I definitely feel for Andy’s wife Megan, his family and everyone else who has been hurt in the process. But as I said, there was over 50,000 people and I’m not the only one that caught it on camera, so if it wasn’t me who uploaded it, I’m sure someone else would have.”

It didn't take long for the internet detectives to identify the individuals as Andy Byron and Kristin Cabot, both of whom were senior executives at the artificial intelligence company Astronomer. The incident swiftly took a personal toll: Meghan Kerrigan Byron, Byron's wife, allegedly removed her last name from her Facebook profile. On July 18, the Astronomer put Byron on leave, and the next day, he resigned.

"Play stupid games, win stupid prizes"

In an interview with The Sun and Livemint, Grace Springer said that she never meant to create any controversy. It was only their reaction to them being on the Jumbotron that made her record and post it. She said:

“I had no idea who the couple was. Just thought I caught an interesting reaction to the kiss cam and decided to post it. A part of me feels bad for turning these people’s lives upside down, but, play stupid games… win stupid prizes.”

She also said that she felt sorry for their partners. Grace Springer remarked:

"I hope their partners can heal from this and get a second chance at the happiness they deserve with their future still in front of them. I hope, for them, my video was a blessing in disguise."

Talking about the clip that has now amounted to more than 50 million views, Grace Springer said:

“It was definitely a hot topic, but no one knew who they were. When I posted late last night before bed it was picking up traction with a couple thousand views.”

Grace Springer made it clear that she hasn't profited from the video, even though it has gone viral. She revealed in an interview on This Morning with hosts Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary:

“I’ve actually made no money from the video itself or the views. It’s not monetized.”

Astronomer releases statement

Astronomer released a formal statement where the spokesperson told US Weekly:

“Astronomer is committed to the values and culture that have guided us since our founding. Our leaders are expected to set the standard in both conduct and accountability, and recently, that standard was not met.”

They even accepted Byron's formal resignation and also announced that Pete DeJoy, who is the Chief Product Officer, will be the interim CEO.

“Andy Byron has tendered his resignation, and the Board of Directors has accepted. The Board will begin a search for our next Chief Executive as Cofounder and Chief Product Officer Pete DeJoy continues to serve as interim CEO.”

The incident has not yet been officially addressed by Kristin Cabot, who allegedly divorced her ex-husband, Kenneth Thornby, in 2022.
