Pope Leo XIV reportedly confirmed the dates for the canonisation of Pier Giorgio Frassati. Born on April 6, 1901, in Turin, a northern Italian city, Frassati was recognized for his love for adventure and catholic outreach, per NC Register. At a young age of 17, he reportedly joined the "St Vincent de Paul Society" and directed his life towards a mission of taking care of the poor and homeless.
According to the National Catholic Register, Frassati died of acute "polio" on July 4, 1025. His last photograph was reportedly clicked when he was on a hike included a phrase, "Verso L'Alto", which is roughly translated as "to the heights." On June 13, Pope Leo XIV held the first "Ordinary Public Consistory" and announced that Pier Giorgio Frassati and Carlo Acutis would be canonized on September 7, 2025.

Pope Francis had reportedly announced that Pier Giorgio Frassati and Carlo Acutis would be canonised in November 2024, per the Vatican News. The canonization of Pier Giorgio was scheduled for August 3, which aligned with the Jubilee of Youth. According to facts about Pier Giorgio by X user @church_POP, Pope Saint John Paul II and Pope Francis had described him as someone who dedicated his life to "Christ." According to the account,
"Saint John Paul II declared him a patron for World Youth Days and deemed him "the man of the beatitudes" as he exemplified those blessings in his everyday life."
The canonisation of Frassati and Acutis was delayed following the passing of Pope Francis on April 21. During the first Public Consistory by Pope Leo XIV, they also confirmed the names of seven other Blesseds who will be canonized in October 2025.
Until his passing, Frassati reportedly gave his time and energy to serve others and fulfil his volunteering duties. The Vatican confirmed that he would be canonized along with the first millennial saint, Carlo Acutis, who passed away in 2006. While the location was reportedly not revealed during the Consistory, it is expected to be held in St. Peter's Square on September 7, 2025.
