Jean Pormanove, who was a French streamer and YouTuber, passed away on Monday, August 18. According to Dexerto, Pormanove, who was known for creating content that has been dubbed by many as "humiliation streams," died during his sleep, while he was still streaming.
Jean Pormanove rose to fame in recent years and became known for his unique content style, which saw him engage in various extreme tasks. He, along with many other former Twitch users, had joined Kick, a platform that is known for its lack of regulation on the type of content one can stream.
Pormanove's sudden death has sparked an uproar among fans regarding the unethical streaming practices. Many have since taken to social media to pay him their tributes.

Jean Pormanove, whose real name was Raphaël Graven, had recently undertaken over a week of "extreme and humiliating" challenges. According to the French media outlet, BFM TV, Pormanove was subjected to “ten days and nights of torture,” which included “extreme physical violence, deprivation of sleep, and ingestion of toxic products."
His unresponsive body was discovered at his home in Contes by a member of the Gendarme, or the French National Police, at around 10 a.m. on August 18. The emergency services were immediately called, after which he was declared dead on the scene.
Jean Pormanove's friend and fellow streamer, Owen Cenazandotti, who goes by his online name, Naruto, announced the news of his passing. Cenazandotti shared a statement on his Instagram Story, announcing Jean Pormanove's sudden death. In his statement, which has been translated from French, he said:
"I have always dreaded the day when I would have to write these words. Unfortunately, tonight, JP (Raphaël Graven) has left us. My brother, my accomplice, my partner. Six years side by side, never letting go, I love you my brother and you will be terribly missed. I ask all of you to respect his memory and not share the video of his last breath in his sleep. For his family and for us, his second family Lelokal. Rest in peace my brother. ❤️Owen."
Owen Cenazandotti, or Naruto, had previously collaborated with Jean Pormanove on several challenges. According to Dexerto, in January this year, Cenazandotti and another streamer, Safine Hamadi, who is also known for his collaboration with Pormanove, were arrested by the French Police on suspicion of producing videos of people in vulnerable situations. The pair were later released.
An investigation into Pormanove's death is currently underway, although according to reports, the police do not suspect any foul play. An autopsy will be conducted to determine the exact cause of death. Pormanove, who was 46 years old, is survived by his mother and other members of his family.
