Brazilian singer Luna Alves passed away after a few hours of her performance on stage. The news of her death was announced by her family, citing that the cause was a heart attack. At the time of her passing, she was with her husband in her home in Cuiabá, Mato Grosso.
Alves' husband, Guilherme Schreiner, who is also a singer, noticed that his wife was unwell when he woke up on Sunday (August 10), and called emergency services immediately. A doctor assisted him on the phone till the paramedics arrived to help. However, she was pronounced dead not too long after help arrived.
Schreiner also explained how Luna Alves did not seem to be suffering during or after the performance. She even recorded a minute-long video to express her gratitude towards her fans from her bed, before saying goodnight.
Guilherme Schreiner talks about the last few hours before Luna Alves' passing
According to reports from G1, a Brazilian news outlet, Luna Alves' husband was with her before they went to bed. He said that she seemed fine and was not in distress or pain. In Guilherme Schreiner's words:
"I went to bed at 1:40 a.m., and she was doing great. We started watching videos and then went to sleep... Around 5:10 a.m., I heard her feeling unwell in bed and got up to call emergency services. The doctor stayed on the line with me, helping me. Emergency services didn't stay long, but unfortunately, they pronounced her dead."
Schreiner, who has been married to Alves for three years, said:
"I lost a woman, I lost a partner, I just ask God for the strength to carry on."
What did Luna Alves say in her last recorded video before she died?
Before Luna Alves went to bed, the night after her performance, she decided to record a video of herself thanking those who had supported her. In the clip, she was saying:
"I'm home, I'm going to sleep. But first, of course, I want to thank God immensely, from the bottom of my heart, for the gift of life, for the gift of my voice... I am truly grateful. Only Him, only Him and I, deep within. And the people who work with me, and the contractors, friends, partners, the people who like my work."
She continued:
"It's great that you do work where people praise you, where people like what you do. Thank you from the bottom of my heart... I received so many compliments, so many good things, so many requests granted today. I just have to thank you. And that's it. May God bless you and me. Kisses."
