US beauty and travel influencer Shayla Michelle has been named Cultural Ambassador of the Lucian Carnival 2025, according to a report in WIC News.
The beauty influencer, who runs her Instagram account under the username MakeupShayla, shared a clip from the event on July 23, 2025. In the video, Michelle describes that she had a fun time at the carnival with her group. She captioned her post,
“St. Lucia Carnival 2025 We’re FETE’N on de ROAD. We jumped with Just 4 Fun and a TIME Was HAD! [tagged Travel Saint Lucia and [Just 4 Fun Carnival] #stlucia #carnival #travelstlucia.”
Shayla Mitchell is known for her makeup tutorials, body positivity content, and product reviews.

According to a report in WIC News, the beauty influencer partnered with the Saint Lucia Tourism Authority (SLTA) to boost the reach of the Lucian Carnival 2025 by promoting its vibrant festivities through her social media platforms. The announcement was made by SLTA in a Facebook post, which read:
“This year, Shayla partnered with the Saint Lucia Tourism Authority (SLTA) to promote Lucian Carnival, leveraging her platform to amplify the festival’s reach beyond the Caribbean. Her involvement drew global attention to the Carnival’s vibrant music, dazzling costumes, and cultural richness, thus elevating awareness among beauty and travel fans worldwide.”
Every year, the Lucian Carnival is held in July, where people show up in colorful costumes, dancing their way through the streets. This year, it was held from July 1 till July 23.
The event also saw many celebrity guests, including American artist Chloe Bailey, Canadian TV host Tyrone Edwards, influencer and entrepreneur Angela Simmons, soca goddess Patrice Roberts, among others.
SLTA stated that Bailey made her debut at the Lucia Carnival in 2023, and since then she has been a regular at the event. This year marked her third appearance at the carnival. TMZ reported Bailey wore a vibrant feathered costume designed by Natalie Fonrose. Sharing several photos from the event, Bailey wrote –
“feeling like a honey glazed donut with sprinkles. carnival baby!!!!”
Born in July 1998, Bailey is an Atlanta-based singer-songwriter and actress with more than 7 million followers on her Instagram.
The Lucian Carnival marks the “celebration of color, music and dance.” The official website states that the first festival was held in 1947. At that time, it was a small group of people who paraded in Castries, the largest city in St. Lucia, in makeshift costumes. By the next year, steel bands, calypsos, and costumed bands became part of the carnival.
The first-ever King and Queen competition for the Lucia Carnival was held in 1950. It was organized by the Physical and Culture Club in Castries.
