Peter M. allegedly confessed to killing his ex-girlfriend by strangling her after a heated argument. Peter M., who is also 31 years old, works as a security officer in a Slovenian nightclub. According to Austrian media, Peter himself confessed and led the police into the forest where Stefanie's body was left in a suitcase.

According to Pieper's neighbors, she was trying to break up with Peter M., who refused to accept the separation. One even advised a reconciliation. However, the tension between Stefanie and Peter continued.

Two of Peter M's family members, his brother and stepfather, have also been arrested on suspicion of aiding the murder of Stefanie. According to Kronen Zeitung, Peter confessed that he ambushed his ex-girlfriend after she came home from a party, stuffed her body in a suitcase, and drove all the way to bury it in the Slovenian woods. He used his car to make the transport and later burned the evidence in a parking lot by torching his red Volkswagen Golf.

She had a photoshoot on Monday morning, but missed it. Her photographer decided to visit Stefanie's house, but found Pieper's Golden Retriever, Marlow, alone. They decided to report her disappearance to the police, who started a search for her.

Her cell phone was also found near her house in the bushes. The search for Stefanie Pieper lasted six days till they found her body in the Slovenian woods, after her ex-boyfriend allegedly confessed to strangling her.
