According to details published by the Daily Mail, the social media personality known online as “Mary Magdalene” was found dead in Thailand. She was 33.

Her real name was Denise Ivonne Jarvis Gongora, a Mexican-Canadian model whose online presence drew a large and often curious audience.

The Daily Mail noted that Mary Magdalene had amassed close to half a million followers, much of that attention tied to the extreme body modifications she documented openly. Alongside her online persona, she moved in art circles, developing a niche following for her psychedelic paintings, sculptures and self-portraits.

A report carried by The Sun said she underwent her first cosmetic procedure at 21 and gradually reshaped her appearance in pursuit of what she once described as a “mutant hybrid apocalyptic otherworldly goddess.” Her body had also been heavily tattooed over the years, including a full black-out piece.

The Daily Mail outlined the long list of procedures she endured: brow lifts, fat transfers, facial and body liposuction, multiple nose operations, several breast augmentations, veneers, cat-eye surgery, silicone butt injections and repeated BBLs layered over existing implants.

Influencer Mary Magdalene found dead in Phuket condo after sharing eerie Truman Show scene:

The Phuket News reported that Mary Magdalene died after falling from the ninth floor of the Patong Tower condominium. She had only just checked in for a single-night stay that Tuesday afternoon.

Police Capt. Channarong Prakongkuea said hotel staff found her in the parking area sometime after 1:30 p.m. Her body was later taken from Patong Hospital to Vachira Phuket Hospital, Khaosod English noted, where doctors would perform a complete autopsy. The local outlet initially kept her identity out of its reports until relatives had been informed.

Not long before her death, Mary Magdalene shared a brief but unsettling post: the final moment from The Truman Show, paired with a childhood photo. The clip ends with Jim Carrey’s Truman Burbank offering a bow and the line,

“And in case I don't see ya, good afternoon, good evening and good night.”

Around the same time, she altered the username on another Instagram account to

“MaryMagdaleneDied.”

Tributes surface for Mary Magdalene as past reflections on surgery struggles re-emerge:

The Daily Mail reported that messages of grief for Mary Magdalene poured in from people who had crossed paths with her over the years. Among them were rapper Kreayshawn, RuPaul’s Drag Race star Plane Jane and influencer Eden the Doll, each sharing memories and condolences with her followers. Her brother Ivan posted one of the more personal tributes. He uploaded a photo of the two dining together in Mexico and wrote,

“I wish I'd spent more getting to know you.”

He went on to say,

“You are so funny and so creative, way more than I'll ever be. I love you much more than words will ever say. You are my world. I wish things were different. Thank you for everything I love you sis.”

Mary Magdalene had also been open at times about her complicated relationship with her own transformation. In a 2023 post highlighted by the Daily Mail, she said she felt “trapped in a never-ending cycle” of cosmetic work, explaining that each new procedure often followed a botched one.

“It's not a fun little adventure anymore, it's just draining in every possible way,” she said in that message.
“My time gets drained, my bank account, my energy, my health. And in the long run, you just kind of end up digging yourself into a really expensive time-consuming hole.”
