Maurene Comey was fired by the US Department of Justice on July 16, according to multiple reports. Maurene was an attorney working at the Southern District of New York and has worked on a number of high-profile cases, which include Sean Diddy Combs, Jeffrey Epstein, and Ghislaine Maxwell. The Justice Department has not yet shared the reason for her removal.

This has led to curiosity among many about whether her firing is connected to the Epstein files, as both Donald Trump and Pam Bondi are facing backlash over not revealing the details about the case to the public. The department's spokesperson has also not commented on the matter.

According to sources, as reported by the New York Post, Comey is being fired under Article II of the Constitution. As per Article II of the Constitution, the president has the authority to appoint and remove certain federal officials.

Comey is the daughter of James Comey, the former director of the FBI. She joined the Justice Department office in Manhattan in 2015 as a trial lawyer. Two years after her joining, her father, James Comey, was fired (in 2017) by Donald Trump.

Trump gives a statement against Maurene Comey's father James Comey

The US Department of Justice and FBI recently released a memo that dismissed several claims about Jeffrey Epstein. The memo also rejected the theory that Epstein was murdered and said he died by suicide in a New York federal jail in 2019.

The statement in the memo read:

"This systematic review revealed no incriminating 'client list.' There was also no credible evidence found that Epstein blackmailed prominent individuals as part of his actions."

According to the memo, the FBI found no proof that Epstein threatened anyone, had a list of powerful clients, or that there was evidence to charge others connected to him.

Trump also recently made a statement at the White House that mentioned James Comey:

"I would say that, you know, these files were made up by Comey, they were made up by Obama, they were made up by the Biden."

However, many pointed out that Maurene Comey's father, James Comey, wasn’t involved, as he was fired by Trump in 2017 and the Epstein case happened in 2019.

Investigative Journalist, Laura Loomer, posted on X:

"Today, the DOJ FIRED Maurene Comey from the United States Attorney’s office for the Southern District of New York. She is the daughter of former disgraced FBI Director James @Comey . This comes 2 months after my pressure campaign on Pam Blondi to fire Comey’s daughter and Comey’s son in law from the DOJ."

She continued:

"Maurene Comey’s husband is Lucas Issacharoff. As I previously reported, he works at the current Trump DOJ, despite a long history of being a Trump hater. He is the Assistant U.S. Attorney in SDNY, working in the Civil Division since 2019. No word yet on whether or not he was also fired today, but he should be!"
