Influencer Melissa Mae Carlton shared a health update about her two young daughters. View this post on Instagram Instagram PostIn April 2024, Melisa and her husband Tom shared the heartbreaking news that their daughter Abigail had passed away from Sepsis at the age of 9, though the cause for the same had not been revealed back then. However, this Thursday, tragedy struck the Carlton family once again when the couple shared on social media that their younger daughter, Molly, had unfortunately also passed away.Melissa Mae Carlton shared a post on her Instagram account featuring photos of the embracing Molly in a hospital bed, along with several family photos. She explained the situation through the caption, writing,“On Christmas morning, our sweet Molly girl and her big sister Abi were reunited. This is the only thing giving me even a small sense of comfort. Molly missed her sister so deeply. She would often ask me, ‘Mummy, when is Jesus coming back so Abi can come down?’ ”She added, "We are devastated. In disbelief. Confused and in shock,” she added. “We are exhausted and shaken after a day filled with trauma and heartbreak. I feel numb. I cannot yet accept that this is real. I am not ready for this pain.”Carlton gave another update a few hours later due to speculation.“I hesitate to share a medical update already because we still don’t have an official diagnosis. But I do feel it’s important to let people know that we have some answers this time. The doctors believe Molly had a genetic heart condition and suspect this may have been the case with Abi as well.”“We’ve been told that even a minor illness could potentially trigger a sudden cardiac event. We were in the best possible place, with everything aligned for the best conditions and the best outcome. Her little body fought so hard. But we’ve been told that this type of cardiac event is, in most cases, not survivable.”Melissa Mae Carlton concluded, “I hope we will get more answers soon and will be doing more genetic investigation for our family now we have possibly a clearer avenue to explore. We are grateful for every single one of you.”Though the diagnosis wasn't fully clear, the influencer wanted to raise awareness and make people who have experienced SUDC (sudden unexpected death in children) feel heard. They also could get some answers as Molly was monitored in the hospital before she died, which wasn't the case with Abigail.Who is Melissa Mae Carlton?Melissa Mae Carlton is a family content influencer.
