Legendary fashion powerhouse Giorgio Armani has died at the age of 91.

Known for founding one of the most venerated luxury brands in the world, the Italian designer leaves behind a legacy in the world of fashion. As of this writing, further details about his demise remain unclear, though his family and employees confirmed the same in a statement.

Us Weekly has reported that Armani, which also boasts offshoots like Emporio Armani and Armani Exchange, will now go to his family. Fortune reported in November 2023 that he leaves behind six heirs, who are now instructed posthumously on everything related to mergers and IPOs for the company he founded in 1975.

Per the outlet, Armani's sister Rosanna, his two nieces, Silvana and Roberta Armani, his nephew, Andrea Camerana, and Pantaleo Dell’Orco, whom he has long worked with, are all the recipients of his business. He also left behind a donation to a charitable foundation. He did not have any children, though he did leave behind a brother named Sergio.

Per Reuters, it is still unclear just how his wealth and estate will be divided between his surviving family members. However, corporate governance experts reportedly asserted that the guidelines in place allowed for a smooth transition where the board held a central role.

Indefatigable to the end, he worked until his final days, dedicating himself to the company, the collections, and the many ongoing and future projects.”

The statement continued,

“Over the years, Giorgio Armani has crafted a vision that expanded from fashion to every aspect of life, anticipating the times with extraordinary clarity and pragmatism. He has been driven by relentless curiosity and a deep attention to the present and to people.”

It also noted that the brand, which will forever be “a reflection of [its founder’s] spirit,” will now be under the control of his family and employees who worked with him.
