On May 11, 2025, a rapper identified as Qidere Johnson, who is better known by his rap name LGP Qua, was shot near M and East Luzerne streets in Philadelphia. Two months have passed into the investigation, and the authorities are bringing in another suspect, the third in this murder case. The third suspect is identified as 21-year-old Amir Earley.

Amir was arrested on August 7, 2025, while trying to escape from the back of a residence at 3000 block of Reach Street.

The U.S. Marshals Service Philadelphia X account has released information to the public about Earley's arrest. The caption reads:

"On May 21st, Amir Early was charged with murder for the shooting death of a man that occurred in the 3900 block of M Street. Today @USMS_Philly and @PhillyPolice homicide detectives arrested Early in the 3000 block of Reach Street after he fled out the back of a residence."

Who were the other two suspects arrested for the murder of LGP Qua?

A few weeks after the shooting, which cost 30-year-old rapper, LGP Qua, his life, the Philadelphia police arrested two individuals who were suspected of being involved in the murder. They were identified as Joshua Thomas-Coleman and Abdul Boyd. Both of them are 19 years old.

According to reports from FOX 29, LGP Qua was with a friend on the M and East Luzerne Streets. It was almost 5 p.m. in the evening on Mother's Day when three men wearing masks noticed that Johnson had gold chains around his neck and tried to steal them from him.

It ended with a shooting that took away the rapper's life. Before he passed, Johnson was taken to the hospital in a private car, but he died 20 minutes after reaching the hospital.

LGP Qua's efforts to make a difference in the community

Qidere Johnson had been in jail during his early 20s, and after his release, he decided to make a difference. One of his advice to the youth is to:

"Be you. Be different. Stand out. Don't be like a crowd."

In the music industry, he made waves with his collaboration with Will.i.am. He also collaborated with Puma and Foot Locker to donate around 1,000 pairs of shoes to school kids in Philadelphia. For this, he was given citations by the Philadelphia City Council.

A community youth activist named Ameer Barber said:

"There will never be another him. He was one of one... With all this violence and all this drill music, we got a youth, we got a younger guy over here that's willing to talk about positivity with that same passion, that same aggression."

Barber and LGP Qua connected through social media because of their common interest in helping the youth. Barber added:

"His legacy is going to live on... I'm going to make sure it lives on through what I do. I'm gonna try to implement as many, especially of his lyrics, I'm gonna try to teach the younger guys what his lyrics meant. How he was able to express himself through those lyrics and really tell you about Philadelphia but from a different avenue, and not about killing people but about how can we stop that."

Two months after rapper LGP Qua was fatally shot in Philadelphia, a third suspect, 21-year-old Amir Earley, has been arrested in connection with his murder. Authorities had previously arrested 19-year-olds Joshua Thomas-Coleman and Abdul Boyd for their alleged involvement in the case.
