All we know as YC Ewzy was wanted in the November 2024 shooting
An arrest warrant was issued for Rapper YC Ewzy, who allegedly carried out a fatal shooting at a petrol station in Surry Hills, Australia, in November last year.
According to a report in ABC, the officials released footage showing the incident where Niddal Acherkouk was chased and ambushed by two masked gunmen on November 22, 2024. They shot him as he tried to escape. Reportedly, Acherkouk was returning from dinner at a Turkish restaurant when the gunmen on Cleveland Street ambushed him.
One of the attackers was wearing a poncho and is alleged to be YC Ewzy, as per the reports online. They are also in the process of identifying the second gunman. The NSW police released a statement stating:
“Anyone with information about the location of Harley Johan, or the identity of the second man, is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.”
One of the gunmen was reportedly wearing a black Nike jacket, blue track pants, and Nike runners. He jumped into a grey Porsche and sped off with his accomplice. The car was allegedly found burned on Kensington Road, Kensington. Police believed the attacker in the footage drove the car, burnt it, and then fled into a stolen Audi. Police Superintendent Andrew Garner said:
“This is an outrageous incident and demonstrated a high level of reckless indifference to the public who were around that area at that time.”
YC Ewzy’s song, Reckless released in March, gained more than 25,000 views. It is described as:
“A vivid picture of the city’s darker side, caught up in cycles of violence, guns and drugs … where survival often comes at a high price.”
The video of the song opens up with a scene of a masked gunman jumping out of a car after killing a driver.
