Hailey Bieber recently sat down for an interview where she opened about the decision that led her to sell her beauty brand, Rhode, in a whopping $1 Billion deal. According to People Magazine, in a recent interview with GQ, the entrepreneur, who appeared on the cover of their latest Men of The Year issue spoke about the surreal moment she realized that deal with e.l.f. Beauty, the company that bought her brand had been finalized. She said:

"Of course when you hear that it’s a real thing and the number is real and that’s a real situation being put in front of you, it’s definitely like. Whoa. Okay. It is very cool."

Hailey Bieber founded Rhode Beauty in 2022, initially launching with three core products. Later, the company expanded into a full skincare line built on "science and great formulation, simplifying many of the mysteries and complex narratives behind efficacious skincare." Three years later, the billion-dollar deal was announced on May 28. Tarang Amin, the CEO of e.l.f. Beauty, previously released a statement about the acquisition, saying:

"We are excited by rhode’s ability to break beauty barriers, fully aligning with e.l.f. Beauty’s vision to create a different kind of company. rhode is a beautiful brand that we believe is ready for rocketship growth.”

More from Hailey Bieber's recent interview, as she opens about selling her company for $1 billion

In her recent interview with GQ, published on November 12, Hailey Bieber revealed that although she initially did not plan to sell her company, she had always known that she would not do it unless it was for a billion dollar deal. The beloved model, who welcomed her son, Jack Blues in August last year with husband Justin Bieber, explained how everything fell into place for her to finalize the agreement. She said:

"I always said that I would never sell the company unless it was a billion dollars. I was just like, it’s going to be this or I am not doing it. That was my goal."

She further added:

"It was not always entirely my goal to sell the company. I thought if the right opportunity came along and the right home for it came along, then I would definitely consider it. And I think with e.l.f., all of the boxes that I would want to check to find a home for it, they checked them and then some."

According to People Magazine, Hailey Bieber, who now continues in her role as founder and also serves as Chief Creative Officer and Head of Innovation explained further in her interview with GQ that since the much-talked-about deal, her company has performed in ways that have exceeded even her own goals and expectations. She said:

"For me, everything with Rhode, I have my hopes for it, and then I feel like it always exceeds my hopes and expectations. Everything that has happened with this brand has far eclipsed anything I could have ever dreamed of and hoped for."

Hailey Bieber also opened up about her journey into motherhood and her relationship with Justin Bieber, to whom she has been married since 2018, describing it as taking the relationship "a day at a time."
