Sean “Diddy” Combs is requesting to serve his prison sentence at FCI Fort Dix, according to a report in CBS News. It is a low-security prison where he will be serving his four-year, two-month prison sentence.

Teny Geragos, one of Combs’ attorneys, wrote in a letter to Judge Arun Subramanian that his placement will allow him to participate in the Bureau of Prisons’ Residential Drug Abuse Program (RDAP). He said:

“In order to address drug abuse issues and to maximize family visitation and rehabilitative efforts, we request that the Court strongly recommend to the Bureau of Prisons that Mr. Combs be placed at FCI Fort Dix for RDAP purposes and any other available educational and occupational programs.”

All we need to know as Diddy requests to move to FCI Fort Dix

Diddy has served 12 months at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, following his September 2024 arrest. He was sentenced to 50 months in federal prison and fined $500,000 (the maximum allowed) for two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution in October 2025.

The Bad Boy Records founder was acquitted of the most serious charges of sex trafficking and racketeering, but was convicted on prostitution related offenses, violations under the Mann Act. The conviction carried a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison.

The rapper’s attorney, Teny Geragos, requested his transfer to the FCI Fort Dix in New Jersey so he could benefit from its drug abuse program. This can also result in reducing his sentence time.

The request from Diddy’s attorney comes after judge Arun Subramanian asked his lawyers during his sentencing on October 3, 2025 to let him know their preference for facility.

In another report, Trump confirmed that the rapper asked him for a presidential pardon in connection with his federal prison case. Trump revealed about it while speaking at the CNN’s Kaitlan Collins regarding a potential pardon for Jeffrey Epstein’s former girlfriend Ghislaine Maxwell. He said:

“A lot of people have asked me for pardons. I call him Puff Daddy, [he] has asked me for a pardon.”

In a letter addressed to judge Arun Subramanian, Diddy said that he had gone through a “spiritual reset” in jail. He added that he is “committed to the journey of remaining a drug free, non-violent and peaceful person.”

The rapper further added:

“I thank God that I'm stronger, wiser, clean, clear and sober.”

FCI Fort Dix, where Diddy’s legal team has requested to serve his sentence, houses 4,000 inmates. However, Judge Arun Subramanian has yet to take action on his request.

A report in CBS News stated that although judges make recommendations, the decision is eventually up to the Bureau of Prisons. The decisions are based on the severity of the offense, the required security level and the inmate’s needs for programs.
