The Queen Mother of Thailand, Queen Sirikit, has passed away at the age of 93. Known for her elegance and fashion, she was an important symbol for the country, for which the entire Southeast nation has been in mourning.

Due to this, instead of cancelling the concerts on such a grave day, the Ministry of Tourism and Sports has asked concertgoers to adhere to a few rules to participate in the national mourning.

Blackpink tour mourns Queen Sirikit

Out of respect for His Majesty, the Ministry announced that concertgoers and organizers should refrain from activities that would appear joyful, such as fireworks, lighting, sound effects, and more. Along with that, the attendees are requested to be dressed in black and white attire.

The organizers released a statement.

“In observance of, and to demonstrate our deep respect for Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother, we kindly ask all attendees of the ‘BLACKPINK WORLD TOUR <DEADLINE> IN BANGKOK’ concerts at Rajamangala Stadium on 25 and 26 October to wear black or white attire as a mark of mourning and respect.”

At the concert on the 25th which is ongoing at the time of writing, though a moment of silence was practiced for the Queen Mother and a slide with condolences was also displayed onscreen, they had fireworks but not on a large scale. It stated

“We express our deepest condolences on the passing of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, The Queen Mother. We ask everyone to stand and observe 1 minute silence to pay respect and tribute to Her Majesty's gracious benevolence and everlasting legacy.”

The news must have affected Lisa from the group, considering the idol hails from Thailand. Government House Deputy and Government Spokesperson Lalida Periswiwatana also requested that events such as concerts, public entertainment events, and businesses like bars and nightclubs should ensure that their activities are conducted with respect, in line with the national mourning period.
