Kid Cudi is getting candid about why he chose to testify against Diddy in his federal s*x trafficking trial, despite not wanting to.

The rapper sat down for the latest podcast interview with Alex Cooper on Call Her Daddy, where he opened up about being subpoenaed by federal prosecutors and forced to testify. Legally known as Scott Mescudi, he and Diddy shared the same ex-girlfriend: Cassie Ventura.

“I was just there because I had to be. I hated every minute of it. I did not want to do it," Kid Cudi told Cooper. "At first, they asked, and I said no. They asked again. I said no. Then I got subpoenaed and I was like, 'F*ck! Sh*t! No!'"

However, the 41-year-old Pursuit of Happiness (Nightmare) rapper clarified that his goal was to show his support for Ventura:

"I'm here to support Cassie. Cassie is my friend. I love her, and I want to see her do well," Cudi remembered thinking. "When I saw her get married, I was so happy for her, you know, that she found someone, her person. When I saw that she was having kids, I was like, 'Aw, this is so awesome.' He continued, "I've always just wanted to see her thrive and do well and be happy because I know she was living a nightmare. And I was just there to support her. That's what kind of gave me peace with it when I sat down in that chair."

As reported by NBC News, back in May, Kid Cudi took to the stands to testify that Combs allegedly broke into his home in Hollywood Hills after he learned of his romance with Ventura. At the time, he claimed that his car was lit ablaze and his home ransacked. Ventura corroborated the claims on the stand.

Speaking with Cooper about having dated Ventura when she was on a break from the Bad Boy Records founder, Kid Cudi said it was "crazy."

"I had a hard time understanding if it was reality. I was like, am I in a movie? ... It was just chaotic and intense," he said. "And, you know, I wasn't like, I was already out of my mind dealing with my own personal s--- so I was really just like, f--- it. I was just willing to walk into the fire."

As reported by The Independent, Diddy had been arrested in September, and within months, his case went to trial. He was eventually found guilty of two counts of prostitution-related charges, though he was acquitted of the more serious counts of racketeering conspiracy and s*x trafficking.

As for Cassie Ventura, she ended up spending four days testifying against her former partner, while in her third trimester of pregnancy with her third child. She accused Diddy of physical, s*xual, and mental abuse.
