Dave Bautista is reportedly teaming up with the writer of Stray, Steve Lerner, to make a new gaming franchise about a Cat Assassin.

The WWE star's production company, Dogbone Entertainment, will be developing Lerner's new game for a franchise that will include an animated series, video games, and more. Lerner is most known for having written the renowned Annapurna Interactive game Stray.

Deadline has reported that the Guardians of the Galaxy actor will lend his creativity to the franchise via his Dogbone company. Cat Assassin is reportedly set in a: gritty neo-noir world inhabited by anthropomorphized cats," the outlet reports, and will focus on a highly skilled assassin who navigates the cartels and power brokers of a sketchy city.

Producers say it “promises a unique blend of humor, action, and stealth," per Deadline.

Here's everything we know about Dave Bautista and his next venture, Cat Assassin: His role in the game, its inspiration, and more

GameSpot has reported that the Dune actor is likely to embody the role of Cat Assassin's lead character, Hugh, who is described as "a skilled assassin navigating a chaotic world of warring cartels and corrupt power players." However, this remains to be confirmed, as the announcement has yet to reveal what Bautista's official capacity in the game is.

The game was reportedly inspired by Assassin's Creed, Splinter Cell, and Sifu, and its offshoots, like the animation project and feature film, will also be developed by Dave Bautista's company. Still, further details about the same also remain scarce as of this writing.

Deadline has reported that Titan1Studios is “well underway” with its development of the game, the tone of which will “set the tone for the expansive universe that will soon follow.” More details are expected to follow “in the coming months.” Dave Bautista said in a statement:

“It’s been a pleasure collaborating with Titan1Studios on Cat Assassin. Their ability to build worlds through animation has been so impressive and they’ve created a truly unique world in this game that I can’t wait to share with players.”

The game is likely in its early development stages, which means fans will have to wait a while before its arrival is announced or a trailer comes out.

As for Dave Bautista's Dogbone Entertainment, he launched it back in 2022, when the actor was making a name for himself in Hollywood. It serves as a full-service TV and film producer and recently completed its work on Prime Video’s Eternal City and Lionsgate’s The Killer’s Game, Deadline has reported. The company is also lending its talents to the upcoming Amazon feature Wrecking Crew.

Rathan Moorthy, President & CEO of Titan1Studios, also issued a statement:

“We are incredibly excited to partner with Dave Bautista and Dogbone Entertainment on Cat Assassin. Dave’s journey from a formidable WWE superstar to a highly respected Hollywood actor is a powerful testament to his acting ability and dedication to his craft. We are absolutely thrilled to have him as part of this franchise. This partnership, combined with Steve Lerner’s incredible storytelling, highlights the immense potential of the Cat Assassin world.”

Lerner echoed the sentiments:

“Bringing the world of Cat Assassin to life in so many forms, from games to comics and of course TV, is a dream come true.”
