The appearance of Vice President JD Vance on Theo Von’s podcast in October 2024 has generated significant buzz online about the transparency surrounding the Jeffrey Epstein “client list.”
According to a report in Politico, the podcaster re-shared a clip from his earlier interview with JD Vance from his This Past Weekend podcast, questioning him on his recent shift in stance on Epstein. He posted it along with a tweet which read:
“Yeah what changed?”
In the resurfaced clip, the vice president is seen agreeing to releasing the Epstein list, which is different from his current opinion on the same.
According to the reports, old posts prior to JD Vance’s vice presidency show him passionately supporting full transparency about Epstein’s association. He has urged journalists to investigate the case.
However, after being elected as the vice president, his stance has now shifted and his remarks are in favor of the Department of Justice and FBI, who reportedly claimed that there was “no credible evidence” that Epstein had a “client list” to blackmail “prominent individuals.”
What do we know about JD Vance’s current stance on Epstein files?
The alleged Epstein list is believed to contain the names of Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell's high-profile underage sex-trafficking clients, per the Irish Star. The report added that President Donald Trump appeared on his flight logs in the 1990s.
In June 2025, during his appearance on Theo Von’s This Past Weekend podcast, JD Vance discussed the ongoing feud between Trump and Elon Musk. He also spoke about his recent view on the Epstein files. Supporting the president, he said:
“First of all, absolutely not. Donald Trump didn't do anything wrong with Jeffrey Epstein. Whatever the Democrats and the media says about him, that's totally BS.”
Previously, JD Vance was known to be the cheerleader of the conspiracy himself. In 2021, he raised concerns, saying in a post:
“Remember when we learned that our wealthiest and most powerful people were connected to a guy who ran a literal child sex trafficking ring? And then that guy died mysteriously in a jail? And now we just don't talk about it.”
In July 2025, Trump strengthened his stance, as he continued to condemn those who are seeking the information on the list of clients allegedly associated with the case.
During his 2024 campaign, the president promised his supporters to unveil the files, but now he has begun to attack the probe into Epstein as "boring" and the work of "bad people."
Recently, when his Air Force One landed in Maryland following his trip to Pittsburgh, he said:
“I don't understand why the Jeffrey Epstein case would be of interest to anybody. It's pretty boring stuff.”
According to a report published by The Democracy Institute, at least 67% of Trump's own MAGA supporters who voted for him during the presidential elections disagreed with his current stance.
