YouTube users have reportedly claimed that Google has doubled its efforts to prevent ad blockers on the streaming channel. According to Dexerto, these efforts are linked to customer subscription to Premium services. Users reportedly found ad blockers that could aid in bypassing the subscription.

Techspot reportedly noticed that users had been receiving messages about ad blockers on June 9. According to its report, users who may be using ad blockers are receiving a notification noting that "ad blockers are not allowed" on the channel. Additionally, it explained that "ads allow" the streaming channel to be used by "billions" worldwide. It reiterated that users can go "ad-free" by subscribing to the "premium" services.

According to Techspot, users are receiving notifications against using ad blockers, which reportedly are preventing them from watching videos. Google has reportedly attempted to crack down on the "third-party extensions" that allow users to watch videos ad-free without subscribing to premium services. Per news outlets, the notification is reportedly not visible to all countries but may be soon expanded worldwide.

Google had reportedly introduced new banners about the ad policy in March 2025, but has been trying to double down on third parties since 2023, per Dexerto. Some users have reportedly expressed their frustration over the ad-blocking measures. One X user (@zelancholyreal) noted,

"I guess Youtube's pissed I use an adblocker cause I can't use the video player anymore. This includes for my own videos, funnily enough. Youtube's banning of adblockers have actually gotten so bad I cannot use the site. This is f**king ridiculous."

Another user expressed frustration about a similar service being introduced to another streaming channel. They wrote,

"Youtube premium f***s . End of story replaced Spotify for me as well."

Users reportedly took to Reddit to express their frustration. One user (@Pumpkinking_0922) noted,

"Im seriosuly done with you tube why dont they just get the hint, Literally every single human hates what they are doing with blocking adblockers."

Some users are reportedly receiving notifications about ad blockers and are unable to watch videos. According to news outlets, the notifications are an attempt to increase user subscriptions to premium services.
