South Korean mukbang YouTuber Tzuyang, whose real name is Park Jung-Won, has reportedly won partial damages in a previously filed lawsuit. In a new update shared by Korea JoongAng Daily, defendants, including Lee 'GoojeYeok' Jun-Hee and Jeon 'Jujak Inspector' Guk-Jin, have been ordered to pay damages to Tzuyang.
The news outlet reported that the former has been ordered to pay 75 million won, and the latter has been ordered to pay 50 million won by the Seoul Central District Court. For those unversed, YouTuber Tzuyang had alleged that the two YouTubers had allegedly extorted money after threats of leaking her personal details. The duo reportedly admitted to extortion of 55 million won in February 2023, and were indicted in August 2024.
Update on YouTuber Tzuyang's legal case against blackmailers over personal threats
YouTuber Tzuyang has reportedly won partially in a lawsuit filed for "emotional damage" against YouTubers Lee and Jeon. This comes almost a year after the mukbang creator opened up about "four years of continuous" abuse by her ex-boyfriend.
She elaborated on details about "assault, forgery of will, two blackmailers", among other things, on her YouTube channel. She reportedly won the support of her fans and viewers, who demanded justice on her behalf.
Korean Herald revealed that the case against her boyfriend was closed, as he allegedly took his life due to unknown reasons. However, her lawsuit against Lee and Jeon continued. In a 2024 interview with the Korea Times, prosecutors shared a statement regarding the situation. They noted,
"The defendants acted as cyber wreckers on the pretext of taking the law into their own hands and conducted a predatory crime that profited on blackmail, such as accepting bribes in return for not leaking weaknesses."
Korea JoongAng Daily reported that YouTuber Tzuyang had initially demanded 100 million won from Lee and 50 million won from Jeon. Sources noted that following the controversy, the duo's YouTube channels were put on hold.
Tzuyang has partially won in her legal case against YouTubers GoojeYeok and Jujak Inspector. Amid the controversy, she has continued to make mukbang content for her followers and boasts 12.6 million subscribers on YouTube.
