Zach Top is the New Artist of the Year at the 2025 CMAs! He accepted the award with a heartfelt speech and a beer can in his hand on November 19. People magazine reported that the singer took to the stage to express a vote of thanks, describing it as a "big deal." He thanked God for his "gift to sing and play music" and his parents for,

"realizing that I was never gonna be a professional cowboy or a baseball player, so maybe the closest I could get was to sing about cowboys."

The news outlet reported that he performed his song, Guitar earlier that night before he was honoured with the award. He concluded his speech with,

"It's been a hell of a last couple of years. So, so thankful and ready to celebrate all night."

Zach Top was reportedly nominated in the same category in the 2024 CMAs, the year of his debut album release.

Zach Top took away his first-ever CMA Award, as his newfound stardom is slowly sinking in. The country singer reportedly broke into the music scene after his single, Like It Ain't No Thing appeared at #1 on the Bluegrass Today Chart, per Opry.

April 2024: Debut album

Zach released his debut album, Cold Beer and Country Music, in April 2024. In an interview with American Songwriter, Zach revealed he took his time to release the first album. He explained,

"It’s just fun to get these songs to finally see the light of day and let people hear what I’ve been working on for a while. You only get one chance to make that first impression and we wanted to get it right."

August 2024: Watershed performance

Owing to his gradual popularity, Zach performed for the first time at the Watershed festival. He spoke to the Seattle Times about the performance and noted,

"It was so funny. I grew up an hour and a half from there or something and never went to the festival as a kid or anything. Shoot, it’s a bucket-list venue for almost anybody, I feel like, but especially for me being from so close to there.”

October 2025: On newfound stardom

In an exclusive conversation with Smooth Radio, Zach expressed gratitude for the growing support and love for his work over the past few years. He noted,

"It has been absolutely insane the last couple years, how many people have fallen in love with my music. I’m really, really thankful for them and really excited that they like it that much."

Zach also set the stage for his Cold Beer and Country Music tour this year and has announced the 2026 dates for the European leg of the tour.
